Hollywood's Roadhouse Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Merton

We stopped at this cute bar/ restaurant for an early meal. We were promptly waited on. Our table overlooked Okauchee Lake. We started with broccoli cheddar soup. This soup was amazing. A tangy cheese base with whole broccoli florets. It was reminiscent of some lobster bisque I had a few weeks earlier at an expensive steakhouse. To say this soup was homemade would be an understatement. Next came pretzel bites with a homemade cheese sauce. Wow! My husband and I were in cheese heaven. The pretzels were homemade and delicious. I ordered the special, a tender smoky beef brisket sandwich with fries. It had a slow cooked flavor that took be back to summer. My husband had chicken wings with a jerk dry rub. Jackie, our waitress was very attentive. The owner, Sharon stopped by to chat; she’s a very lovely woman. We were tempted by the strawberry cheesecake, but we were so full we took a pass. Have been going here for years and the service has gotten worse especially over the last year. The worst experience the bar was severely understaffed and we waited 30min for drinks and 45-60min on food ticket times that came out way wrong. I left a bad review on the Facebook page finally and as a result was kicked out of the bar for life and called an “evil person” by the bars Facebook page. Come to find out later the owner went to the movies instead of covering the bar that night. You’ll go in there and you’ll have to grab your own menus, your own condiments, and you might have to make your own drinks bc bartenders will stare right at your drink and not even ask if you want another one. If you’re in Lake Country there’s literally three to four dozen other bars with 10miles of here I would recommend over this bar. Bike or not, if you have not been to this slice of Wisco tavern and culinary expertise in Nashotah on Hwy C, it’s your own fault. This should be put on your to do list. Hollywood is a woman who has had obstacles in her path albeit personally, medically, or just being a single woman in the Lake Country bar business. How she handles her tough times is in direct line with how she runs her business. Strong, respectful, with no BS. Hollywood’s friendly and talented staff go along with an establishment that is always presentable and very clean. Hollywood is a gal who invites us all into her own space and makes us feel like we’re lifelong friends who are in her very own living room or back yard. Always an ice cold beverage, excellent freshly made meals, homemade pizza that is never just a normal bar pizza.
