Such a cute and delicious little find only about a mile off the Taconic State Parkway heading towards Redhook New York. While I was traveling north I found myself a bit hungry so I pulled off the Taconic heading into red hook to grab a bite to eat when I discovered this hidden little gem. Boasting a diverse menu focused on what I would consider southern comfort food it lists such things as Louisiana cage in gumbo, gourmet mac & cheese, or healthier selections such as pesto grilled chicken wrap. Prices are extremely reasonable and they have a healthy adult beverage selection. For those of you passing by on Sunday they have live music from 12 to 2. Stephanie the owner, is also runs local nonprofit business to support veterans through her equine therapy program. Stephanie also donates her precious time to volunteer on the local rescue squad. There are so many amazing reasons to visit this hidden little treasure when you stop and make sure you tell Stephanie I said hello

Cider Bros Roadhouse is my new favorite pit stop off of the Taconic. They say it's slow food but worth the wait - they exaggerated the time and undersold how good the meal was! Our group shared an order of fried pickles which were expertly breaded and amazing, as well as the scallion pancakes. The macaroni salad with artichoke was unexpectedly delicious. Certainly not a throwaway pasta and mayonnaise dish. It shines on its own. Sandwiches were had all around after that, with the Sriracha Honey Fried Chicken and the Cubano being the two favorites. All of the meat was juicy and flavorful, there's really nothing negative to say about this meal except that most things needed an extra side of sauce. Can't wait to swing by again.

This isn't going to be one of those reviews that's all in caps going crazy. Really I just want to write this more as advice from my experience.

I was really grateful they took reservations, because I had a whole day planned for my dear sister for her birthday, and needed to know we could be seated as a large group. So, I do thank them for that and appreciate it.

The issues: Drinks: The waitress didn't seem to know what drinks were available, and the drinks were not listed on the menu. When we asked if they had lattes, she replied that they had cappuccinos, and then made no effort to like, go and confirm what they did have until we kept pressing. Those of us who ordered coffee received cold coffee (this was only an hour after opening for breakfast hours), which was replaced when we asked, but you shouldn't serve cold coffee, and we were the only people there. (A second smaller group arrived well into our first hour.)

Issue: The Wait: Only 6 out of 8 people ended up coming, and we ordered the following items: Avocado toast, two omelets, 2 breakfast wraps, and french toast. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes for breakfast to come out and we were the only people there (for most of our visit). Again, I know times are tough, maybe someone called out, but, since there was no communication or apology or acknowledgement of what was happening, I can neither offer empathy nor understanding.

Issue: The Food. I'm not an unreasonable person, if the food was to die for, I could forgive a long wait time with no explanation, but the food was not good. The french toast was composed of two very dark small edges/or edge looking peices of a loaf of bread. The omelets were both wrong, either having added or missing items. One omelet had so much pepper in it, the person could not finish it, and was tasting it for most of the day. The avocado toast was not mashed, it was just sliced, which is a nit-pick as you can do it both ways, but let's be real, we all expect it to be mashed. The scrambled eggs in the wraps were very clearly yellow and white so they were not so much scrambled, as mixed.

Issue: Gratuity: Since technically we were a large group, we were auto-charged a gratuity on the bill, which didn't sit right with me.

So aside from the service, the wait time, the drinks, and the food, the place was really cute, I like that they accept reservations in a small town and I honestly really wanted to love it there,...

I was really excited to stop here on our trip back to PA! The reviews looked great and the place was cute. We ordered the cheese curds and the cuban with fries and said we'd like them to come out as they're ready, no need to wait. There were maybe 2-3 other tables, not busy at all. Unfortunately it took a really long time to get our food. The cheese curds came out after maybe 20-30 minutes (not sure exactly) but I think we'd been there for almost 50 minutes by the time the sandwich came out - and it was the wrong order due to a system glitch. We were brought a cheeseburger and chips. Not wanting to wait another 20-30 minutes we just asked for the check. The owner did comp the check and give us the cheeseburger which was nice of him. For the food that we did get to try - the cheese curds were tasty but not quite the squeaky texture I was expecting from the other time I've tried cheese curds! Not sure which one is the standard since I only have two to compare between. The burger was plain but decent flavor wise but suffered a little bit from shrinkage in the way that smaller thicker burgers can get. I liked the pickles that came on it! The chips were a neat shape and I wanted to love them, but the edges were just a tad burnt so that flavor overpowered things for me. If we come by this way on a future road trip I'll give it one more try to see if this visit was...

This has to be one of my top worst places I have ever ate at in this area. We stopped here for brunch and the place was empty , not one customer on a Sunday. My gut said to turn around and leave but we were hungry so we sat down.

Our waitress seemed like a nice young lady but acted as though she was being forced to work there, maybe she was just having an off day so I do not want to judge too harshly but it was not too very welcoming expierence. We ordered Pancakes and French Toast and it took about 40-45 minutes even though we were the only people there.

The pancakes were inedible. I rarely ever have sent food back but they were terrible. How do you mess up pancakes? I dont even know how to describe them they were dense, dry, it was like eating old dry thick bread.

My husbands french toast was terrible as well but he managed to eat most of it, not all of it and he usually does not waste a crumb. He said his coffee was very bitter.

To top it off we were attacked by 4 or 5 flies while trying to eat. We left (they did not charge for pancakes) and went somewhere else for brunch.

Their website claims their chef was "trained by the finest at the culinary institute" .Well, either they skipped the breakfast food course or had the day off.

Do yourself a favor and...
