Norwood Pines Supper Club — Restaurant in Town of Minoqua

We had out of town company and decided to try Norwood Pines for dinner. The grounds and building were beautiful with outdoor seating and a bar plus an area with live music. We had a reservation and got seated promptly. Our party of four got drinks, two had old fashions and two had a cranberry margaritas. Nothing special as the margaritas had no cranberry flavor to it just three whole cranberries floating in the drinks. Our friends mentioned the old fashions were just ok and quite sweet. Our entrees were items from the special of the day menu. The women had the breaded walleye, and the men had the stuffed salmon. The walleye had a breading made from breadcrumbs with a tomato sauce over it along with rice pilaf. After eating several bites of the walleye, I proceeded for the next 10 minutes to pick out bones, which was quite frustrating. The walleye had no flavor, even from the breading and the tomato sauce and the rice pilaf was totally bland. I put some butter on it, which gave it some flavoring. The men were looking for the stuffing on top of their salmon, which was supposed to be a blend of different seafood and crab. They discovered was a mound on top that resembled stove top stuffing and the tiny bits of seafood mixed in could not be tasted . Needless to say, we were all disappointed in our meals and for the type of supper club and cost it was not positive for us. Our waitress was friendly, but she struggled several times to place the right order with the right person. We have eaten at many great restaurants in the area and are sorry to give this one a negative review. We hope some changes can be made to...

Made reservations, Anniversary celebration. September 11th. seated immediately, Waitress was excellent. Even took our picture for us.Great atmosphere.The best part of the evening was the pleasant server.

Then it went down hill from there. She offered us cream of asparagus soup, which was actually cream of broccoli. Blah! When questioned she said that's what the kitchen told her the soup was. We had a bruchetta appetizer, it was O.K . we've had better. My husband ordered prime rib done medium with vegetables. His was good and done right. I ordered ribeye medium rare with Oscar crab meet. Mushrooms and a baked potato. the potato was tasteless. My steak was done more than medium and very fatty also was tasteless. The crab meet was very sparse and loaded with a hollandaise sauce that was thick and not very good. The mushrooms were actually canned! I couldn't believe it,I didn't eat any of them. When I let the waitress know of the condition of my meal,she said oh sorry, yeah we serve canned mushrooms. I'll let the cook know your steak was over cooked. She would have her manager take something off of our bill and offered us free cheese cake,that also unfortunately was mediocre as well.We never did see the manager,she took a whopping 20 percent off of our bill. We had never been to this place in all of our times to the northwoods and were glad to go. The Atmosphere was pretty good. We ended up getting here with an almost 2hour wait. After a few minutes waiting and searching for another possible place to eat they offered us a table in the bar area. Other than being especially loud it was pretty cool to see all the cool ice cream drinks being made with precision. At our table we ordered the Chicken Alfredo, Stuffed Salmon, and the Blackened Scallops. We also ordered the Cheese curds. The Alfredo was nothing to write home about. Not a great amount of any flavor especially the chicken. The stuffed Salmon was INCREDIBLE and the Blackened scallops were cooked nicely. The Blackened Scallops had so much powder on the top of the scallop that they were hard to swallow without some liquid to wash them down with. I wish that I had tried their other scallops now. I ended up adding a little butter to the dish that they were in and that seemed to help. The clam chowder was also pretty yummy. I would make sure to get some of that. I would for sure recommend this place. Our waitress was pretty attentive for the amount of people she was serving. I would say that the only thing she could have done was talk more about their special items like the ice cream drinks and such. We would have probably added those...
