Dairy Bar — Restaurant in Town of Mohawk

We had just visited the St. Kateri Shrine in Fonda and, with limited eating places we told the the kids were get desert to hold them over for lunch, so we stopped at the Dairy Bar. Checking the menu I saw they sold some food. Bring hungry, my wife and I got burgers and the kids hot dogs. Considering the cheap prices, roadside stand that accepted cash only, I hoped for at least McDonald's quality burgers and city hotdog cart hotdogs. When I got the two hotdogs for the kids, they looked good. Taking a bite of one, wow, they were good! Nice and juicy, well cooked. Clearly these were grilled fresh when we ordered. Still, the frozen disc think burger would be McDonald's quality at best. Again, wrong! When she handed me the burgers I was surprised how heavy the cardboard boxes were! The burgers were quite thick, and to my surprise, quite juicy! While eating, were some to two regulars, waiting for the races to start at the fairgrounds across the street. They said the did is amazing, add is the ice cream. So, we grit the ice cream and slushes for the kids. As expected, the ice cream was great, I got a sundae, and the kids loved their slushes, which were larger than expected for the price. If in Fonda or just driving through, if the weather is nice, I highly recommend Dairy Bar. As do my kids, last time we were passing through Albany, the kids wanted the one hour detour for lunch! It's not THAT good, but it certainly left an impression with the kids, as well as...

So last time I actually came down here was for the U-Haul services that they provide. I tried going through the U-Haul web service and of course that didn't work out. So I got a call from these folks to help me through the process to complete the rental and talked to the owner for a little bit about motorcycles and stuff. Really friendly and still professional. He wanted to make sure I actually was renting what I needed and that I wasn't going too small or too big.

I also live only a block or two away from here and the ice cream is always great and it's always busy. I will state the obvious, that with all the small ice cream shops in the area, you have to be good in order to keep your doors open around here. They have been open...

I wish there were more places like this one, instead of corporate franchises. This one just screams "small town mom and pop shop charm". The cheeseburger was super delicious. The shake and the mac salad were above average. I will definitely stop for more next...
