Been here several times so ready for review. Was in Montello over the summer and tried many area restaurants. Sparks Grill is hands down the best breakfast in the county.
First, tried Sparks Omelette its fantastic with Italian sausage inside & marinara sauce with Giardiniera on top, I like spicy!
Second visit, Homemade Corned Beef hash with onions & horseradish sauce on the side, best corned beef around, not the sliced or can version everywhere else.
Next trip on Sunday morning, very busy but fun to watch the place in action, as you can watch the food being cooked near the counter. Tried Ham, mushroom, asparagus omelette special with hash browns and toast. Delicious I could barley finish it all.
Lastly, tried the Friday Fish Fry 3-6PM choice was haddock, perch, walleye, I tried Blue Gills with steak fries, slaw & rye toast, excellent fish lightly breaded and came out hot & crispy.
Clean friendly diner with helpful staff, some tables even have charging stations for your phone, huge parking lot for cars, trucks and trailers. Will be back next time I am...
Read moreWas on vacation for Memorial Day Weekend. Ended up taking a road trip from Fremont to Wautoma to Princeton. A friend recommended Sparks as he knew we’d be passing by. Parking lot was overflowing – but we found two open spots at the counter. After one server took our order, another stopped by to ask if we needed any help. A few minutes later there was a line in the foyer and out the door of people waiting for tables. Cooks are visible so you can watch your food prepared. It was quite the operation! One guy was just cooking bacon. Supplies being constantly delivered from the back area. Somebody else was assembling the orders and calling out for pick-up. I imagine there are military encampments that don’t work together this efficiently. It was standard fair breakfast – but the rhubarb crisp we had after was outstanding. 10/10 would go again.
Worth noting - cash...
Read moreWas overall really impressed with mostly everything! The place is fairly small and cramped and can be hectic but the service was phenomenal. We had a larger group of people who ordered a lot and the waitress was nothing but nice to us and provided amazing service. The biscuits and gravy and white toast were surprisingly my favorite items. Make sure to bring cash because they're cash only (didn't see the one small sign on the door before going in), but they do have an ATM. I would love to give them 5 stars but I was disappointed with my country fried steak and my friend was pretty disappointed with their ribeye. Both tasted "off" and had a sort of weird oily taste? It was hard to describe, but neither of us were able to finish our steaks because of the weird flavor. Everything else was great and I'd love to stop by again to try more...
