Do not book any event at this restaurant at Winding Hills! The worst experience ever!! I recently attended a bridal shower here and was part of the bridal party so I have first had experience to share! Let's talk about the food! The food was horrible, I wish we took pictures! Everything was cold and I do not mean lukewarm I mean cold ! The menu consisted of chicken and waffles, quesadillas and a salmon BLT. They took a chicken tender and cut it in half and placed it on a frozen waffles! Clear as day you can see he where they cut the chicken tender in half! The quesadilla hardly had anything in the middle when you picked up the quesadilla it fell apart and the cheese was not melted! The salmon BLT we thought we were getting real salmon but we got slices of salmon! We had to ask for pictures of waters to be placed on the tables! When we asked for pictures of soda to be placed at one table they came out with a size of a cup for the entire table and said they don't have any pictures but the guest can use this small cup to pour in other cups! In addition the family paid for a mamosa bar, Great set up but we were told that people were drinking mimosas too quick to refill the glasses at the Mamosa stand , so instead they decided to put an open champagne bottle on the tables that wanted it and I guest had to walk up to the Mamosa bar area to make their mimosas!! I highly recommend anyone that has this venue booked any time soon for an event cancel cancel cancel!! The bride was so disappointed she was so looking forward to this day and this restaurant ruined...
Read moreI had my bridal shower here a few months ago and was extremely disappointed. The grounds are beautiful and customer service we received prior to booking was great. The day of the event, the staff came around once to take drink orders and were not seen again, even though we purchased the bottomless mimosa package. As the bride, I had 1 mimosa over the 3 hour booking time because nobody came around for refills. The food was cold and frankly not enjoyable. All of these can be forgiven, but as we were packing up to go (which takes time as we are loading several cars with heavy gifts) we were treated extremely rudely. If we were taking too long to pack up, there are several polite ways to tell our group to hurry up or that the day is over. Instead we were met with glares. My mother caught the hint based on whispers and body language by the staff, and said to the manager "I'm sorry, are we taking too long? We dont want to hold you up" to which the manager looked at her AND BLATANTLY IGNORED HER. The remaining guests who were there including myself (the bride) and my sister were all stunned at the treatment. Instead of my shower being remembered for a great time, guests were joking about how rude the staff was to us. Thankfully we could find the humor in it as it was pretty absurd. The only redeeming moment was that the manager did call me and my mother to apologize after we sent emails about our negative experience. Hopefully they will take these reviews into consideration for...
Read moreWinding Hills Golf Club is the best-kept little secret for golfers in the Hudson Valley. This executive par-3 course is well maintained by a grounds crew that pays attention to the little details and provides challenging hole locations. The restaurant offers a modified menu and services (at times) as much attention is spent on event planning and weddings at this picturesque course.
For the duffers, hole #3 presents a challenge with a narrow opening to the fairway. Trees line the left and there is a pond on the right that makes you pause before pulling out the big dog and going for it. On the back nine, hole #13 is the signature hole, presenting a downhill dog-leg left that tempts a drive off the tee, but only when caution is observed for others leaving the green or teeing off on #14.
Putting and short game skills are a must here. There is no hole more difficult to putt than #8. It doesn't matter where the hole location is placed: The ball will funnel to the front right and off the green. Be cautious and respect the variations on the surface and you can get close; if you're too aggressive, you're looking at a 3-putt, or way, way worse.
The golf pro, Gil Anderson, is exceptional and rounds out a great golf experience at this course. Come here to play, leave here with an other-worldly connection...
