This place has an amazing story: firefighter’s fire-cooking becomes so popular that his family starts an all-out catering and restaurant business. Nearly 20 years ago word got out that Fritz, a volunteer firefighter, was bringing amazing chicken and ribs to his crew at the fire house. So Fritz started getting requests to cater nearby events. The entire family contributed their best recipes and got to work. Years of hauling cookers to events earned enough to get the family a brick-and-mortar kitchen about 10 years ago. More growth allowed them to add indoor and outdoor seating as well as an event space featuring pavilion, Adirondack chairs, and a fire pit. So as other restaurants were struggling during the pandemic, this place's business was growing. The growth has allowed the family to do even more for Moravia and its surrounding communities: they're currently turning the pavilion into a four-season space and attached brewery. (Amazingly enough, the pavilion is still largely available during the remodel!).
Hats off to Fritz, Lee, and the rest of the family who enrich this area with food and fellowship. I don't even eat meat, but I love their story (and the veggie trays at our event). I particularly love their philosophy over the entrance: "all are welcome" — and they mean it! I look forward to what's in store for this family and their community. I hope to return someday for a mean bean salad and other...
Read moreOrdered $85 worth of food with the tip. Totally underwhelming, got a full rack of ribs, fireman’s special, loaded nachos, (sides) baked beans, Mac and cheese, cheesy potatoes. The ribs where literally black ( not bark) black from being overcooked or warmed up too many times and where just char. I’d honestly be embarrassed to sell that to someone being a bbq joint. The brisket and pulled pork sliders that came with fireman’s feast tasted like charcoal starter fluid and disgusting. For the sides, the baked beans were (meh) Mac and cheese (meh) and the cheesy potatoes sucked. Honestly to be a bbq place and sell this product at this price idk how you’re still in business. I question why your employees would put black burnt charred ribs in a box and think it’s ok, but the owner was too busy sitting at bar talking to ppl. Lessons learned open boxes and look at the food before leaving, just like...
Read moreI stopped in to 10-10 on Sunday, July 20th at about 1:30PM. I ordered 1.5 lbs of brisket, a 1/2 lb of chicken and a large containter of their coleslaw. The coleslaw was great but the brisket and chicken were unedible. We live in Auburn so it was only a brief 20 minute ride from Moravia.
The brisket and chicken were both bone dry and the brisket was tough as shoe leather. You can see from the photo that the brisket was unedible.
I do not care if we came a little after the lunch peak, when I pay $59 for the items mentioned above, I expect it to be great. There is no tolerance for mediocrity when you are charging customers money for a product.
Needless to say, I would never return to 10-10 again. Not sure why anyone would want to gamble on whether or not they are going to get fresh cooked brisket when their is a chance your purchase will...
