Charlie's Pizza Washington Mills — Restaurant in Town of New Hartford

Lowering my rating from a 5 star, then 4 star, and now, finally, a 3 star was tough to do.

For the last twenty years, Charlie's had been my favorite pizza place. It was the golden standard by which I judged all other pizza. A few years ago, something changed. It was still great, but it wasn't one of the best anymore.

Now, over the last few months, it's been consistently disappointing. Disappointing pizza just in general, not just disappointing compared to my nostalgia of the perfect pizza.

Their garlic pizza recipe is completely different. Their cheese, even if you ask for extra crispy, is limp and lifeless.

The service is still just fine; 4 stars.

Had simple of order of garlic knots with marinara and a slice of pizza. I got the garlic knots with no maranara on the side and had to wait for the slice because they forgot to put it in the oven to warm up. The other girl looked at me like "what slice". After asking for the marinara and my slice I put back the menu because it is my first and last time I will ever go there. Counter girl was not friendly at all. No apologies, no thank you. The worst first impression I ever had. I would understand if they were actually busy. To top it off the cook was talking about how he has been sick with the bug and throwing up. I honestly didn't want the food at that point ...I was so annoyed and...

I've gone to charlies for years and years and over 100 times but the last few times has been awful. $30 for chicken wings and the were inedible. Way over cooked and no sauce after paying extra for the everything sauce there was a tablespoon at the bottom and none on any wing. The large sub that I ordered with everything on it was so dry with no oil and vinegar that that also was inedible. A teaspoon of mayonnaise apparently they now think is sufficient. It has been going downhill for a while now but this time took the cake. I have loved charlies for years and years and am sad to say it is no longer what...
