I went with my friend to Piggy Pats last Wednesday evening. It was around 6:30pm when we were seated in a half empty dining room. They closed at 9:00 that night, so I felt as though we arrived at the perfect time to receive great service and quality food. Our waiter greeted us, he was a tall guy, brunette, maybe in his 30s, tattoos. I described him because he didn’t introduce himself so I have no other way of identifying him. He came over and immediately asked what we wanted to drink. No eye contact. No hello. And smacking his chewing gum.
Anyway, we ordered the brisket nachos and received a plate of cold, beef jerky-like brisket over cold chips, with sprinkled shredded cheese and a tablespoon of sour cream. We were speechless when he set down the appetizer, but he ran away so quickly we had no choice but to try to choke them down. We finally had to flag him down to ask for 2 sides of sour cream because it was truly difficult to eat the nachos.
We finally ordered our entrees. My friend ordered the ribs with brisket and I got the “3 little piggies” with brisket and pulled pork. Both myself and my friend got a side of Mac and cheese which was wonderful, but my sandwiches were dry and cold. Our waiter didn’t come over during the entirety of our dinner to ask for refills on our drinks, yet he was standing at the hostess booth chatting with other employees. I had a white claw and my friend had a blue light. Finally he came over at the conclusion of our meal to take our plates away and ask us if we’d like another beverage.
As my friend went to pay the bill, he accidentally dropped his credit card and it landed directly in front of the waiters feet. Instead of politely picking up the card for us, the waiter rudely tells my friend “you dropped your card, dude” and made my friend pick up the card from nearly under his feet.
Both my friend and I come from years of food/customer service backgrounds, so we always like to give food service staff the benefit of the doubt. However, this was an exceptionally bad and expensive...
Read moreFamily outing after pumpkin patch there were 10 of us we tried 4 different appetizers, nachos were not a hit to much wrong with them!!! The fried green tomatoes weren't horrible but they shouldn't be hot spiced couldn't taste the tomato over the spice. The canned corned beef balls would have been good if there was actually sauerkraut and Swiss in them instead of a ball of mush The pountine was the best of the lot though it lacked the fried cheese curd making it French fries and gravey with bits of beef. The kids sliders were burnt little balls of meat that they couldn't eat most of the adult dinners were passable but most of them lacked something that was suppose to be on or with them. And the barbecue sauces left a bad taste one was plain sweet no flavor and the other was plain hot no flavor. The baked beans are not baked beans its a spicy bean soup that comes in a double shot glass. The smoked turkey wasn't smokey just a pile of really dry shredded turkey and no good sauce to put on it to eat it. Though it made one kid happy in thier bun with a ton of ketchup. The babyback ribs was a tiny portion and very dry . Raw peppers on a burger is a turn off when you are looking for fried or at least pickled. The Cuban was not only lacking peppers but lacked any flavor instead of mustard they gave her ranch that only makes her gag her dinner was over I could go on about cold food but you get the gist over $200 bill for mediocre food didn't find anything...
Read moreI've been here a few times, and it's an okay restaurant. The atmosphere is comfortable and spacious, and it's not nearly as obnoxious or loud as Texas Roadhouse.
The food, however, isn't consistent and can be a tad salty. Soup of the Day was New England Clam Chowder which had a lot going on in it. It had corn in it, which is criminally offensive to native New Englanders. Potatoes and bacon pair great with everything, but the soup was so overcrowded with those items and corn that the main star of the dish (clams, it's literally in the name) could hardly be found.
I wasn't hangry, so I ordered a Cobb salad which apparently was big enough to serve a small medieval village. The grilled chicken was good though and, given that it's breast meat, thankfully not dry.
The sliders were also good, but it would've been better if they hadn't been so stingy with the barbecue sauce. The sweet potato fries were good too, but full disclaimer they weren't made in-house.
The service was decent. The food took a bit longer to get to our table than expected. It didn't seem as busy as previous times that I've been to the restaurant. It couldn't have the sliders that we ordered, because we asked for another order to-go when we asked for the check, and we received it within less than 10 minutes.
3/5 stars; would recommend over TRH any day and twice on Sundays, but it's nothing to write home about...also ask for extra...
