Amazing experience start to finish with one small exception.
We arrived to find the parking lot full. I jumped out of my car and asked the hostess (who I later learned was the owner) where I can park. She pointed out a couple spots that we didn't even know were spots; one that we thought was a throughway in the parking lot and another where she said we could park behind a car that was an employee's. This was excellent service.
We had a couple beers at the bar while we waited a short 10 minutes or so for our table (no reservation). The service was perfect (thanks, Michael!), the food was baller: We had the French onion soup and escargot for apps. For entrees, I had the veal special, which was basically like a T-bone steak the size of my head; two inches tall and about 7 inches long. It was tender, juicy, and delicious. My girlfriend had the duck. Both were exquisite. Even the salad was delicious and fresh; not a single bad piece of lettuce, arugula, or tomato Even the dressing was well-measured and tasty; not overwhelmingly strong-flavored; just right.
We had a nice bottle of Malbec with out meal and then some desserts and dessert coffees afterward (we were there to celebrate an occasion, so we went all out). I had the bread pudding and she had the mud pie; both were substantial and delicious.
Everyone was kind, friendly, and affable. The waitstaff and bussers were attentive but not intrusive. Hell, even the bathrooms were nice. The view was very nice; as we ate, a big thunderstorm rolled by, and we could watch the weather from all the windows that make up the walls of the place. After dinner, my girlfriend and I walked down to the docks and found about 3 dozen beautiful Orb Weavers rebuilding their homes after the storm.
Oh! The one exception to the perfect evening? My girl said the water came out of the faucet in the women's bathroom at a slightly unexpected, minor, deviant-from-perfect angle. We explained to the management that this was unacceptable and we expect them to go in with a protractor and compass and make sure the water comes out at an absolutely perfect angle next time, or we're taking our business elsewhere.
Just kidding.
Seriously, folks, this is one great little place. It's pricey, but everything was of the highest quality; the service, the food, the drinks - I think if I were to try to find one less than stellar aspect of our visit, the bread was a little underwhelming. It was warm and delicious and served with pads of real butter, but I would have preferred sourdough (I don't know...
Read moreCame here for a late Valentine’s Day dinner tonight and did not leave disappointed. We ordered a bottle of Merlot and some appetizers to start. The crispy bacon was not as crispy as I expected but it was tender and delicious and melt in your mouth good. We split a beet salad special and it was flavorful and refreshing and extremely satisfying. As we were sitting waiting for our dinners our water glasses never made it more than halfway empty. There was always someone on the floor checking on us to make sure we were okay and topping off our wine glasses from the bottle sitting at our table. For dinner we ordered the 12oz ny strip and a shrimp Veracruz. The steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection and the shrimp were the same. The lemon butter scallion sauce that came with the shrimp was heavenly. For dessert we order a cheesecake and the bread pudding and they were both quite good. The service really stood out tonight for me. The staff was attentive but not overbearing. They were knowledgeable about the food and they knew the specials and could make great recommendations. We haven’t been to Lakeview House before but we will...
Read moreDon’t waste your time. Meh…went for dinner on Friday night. Food is bland at best. Ordered Burrata that had some honey on it, a couple glazed pecans and orange peels served with toasted dry bread. Sooo boring… ordered chicken francese for the main course it was also extremely bland. There was a bunch of plain raw broccoli on the plate without a dash of any seasoning, too dry to even attempt to eat it. The only good thing was the garlic mashed potatoes. My husband ordered a pork quesadilla appetizer that looked like it should be served to an American girl doll. Too small to even consider it an appetizer and had no flavor. My daughters ordered the short rib dinner and the pasta with shrimp. Both of them said it had no flavor and didn’t like the taste. The service was great but the food needs an overhaul! Don’t waste your money on expensive bland food!!! The view is gorgeous and that’s about it. Will not be returning unless there is an drastic change in chef or recipes. Bill came to almost $500 and was by no...
