Short version: Food is alright, service is decent, but the working conditions and overall structure of the restaurant make it impossible for me to give above 1 star.
Long Version: To start, I am a very easygoing reviewer. I don't review unless Google tells me to, and I have, up until now, given 5 stars to every place I have visited because I don't require much out of places. I usually just get my food(I'm not picky at all), eat, and go. If a location can allow me to do just that, I can give it 5 stars. However, With the Kiltie, I cant just look past its flaws. To start, they handled the COVID-19 pandemic terribly, and didn't communicate with their employees about the situation at the workplace (Milwaukee Sentinel). This action, while largely not affecting the customer, makes me critical of the Kiltie, and it also makes me not want to support their business. Although the food is fine, I can't support a workplace that doesn't treat its employees well and with full transparency. After all, it is the workers of every business that produce the labor value for it and truly run...
Read moreThis was my second time coming here. My first time was over 10 years ago. My husband ordered a brat and the Jalapeùo poppers. I ordered a cheeseburger with mozzarella sticks and fries. My mom ordered a burger with onion rings. I tried one of her onion rings and honestly that was the best tasting thing out of all of our meals. My burger was not very visually appealing as it had a grayish look to it as if it was boiled or steamed. Not sure if thats common/normal. It tasted ok but what saved it is that I added my own toppings on it at home. The fries with cheese were ok, but not much flavor. The mozzarella sticks are wonton wrapped which also dont have much flavor but the marinara dipping sauce was decent. I had also tried a couple bites of my husband's brat and it was really good and flavorful. We did have fast and friendly service which is why im giving 4 stars but im not sure i would ever order a burger again from here. I might be open to trying other items off the menu. Overall, we had a good experience, but I feel certain food items need to...
Read moreCome for the drive in experience and the ice cream only. The burgers are... terrible. No one wanted to complain while we were eating them but after we left everyone agreed. For $4 the 'meat' was like a slab of gray boiled something pounded with a meat tenderizer for texture. On top of it, the bun was cold, definitely not grilled or toasted. Ugh. You'd be better off getting one at McD first and bringing it with you. Then get your fries at Kiltie. Those are good. Similar to Culver's...a bit thicker. Fluffy inside and crispy outside. One size, $2.50 and two people could share as they are a decent size. The ice cream is good... very creamy, somewhat like custard texture but none of the custard flavor. Also it's cash only so come prepared. For 3 people we spent over $45 which included the tip. Definitely only coming here for ice cream if I decide to come...
