So first, kudos for being open in the winter of Ontario Lake. While I ordered take out, the view out onto the lake while I waited was beautiful, and I would have been happy to eat in house had circumstances allowed. For the following review I'd also remind all that individual preferences may vary: 1 - I ordered a flight of charbroiled wings. The sauce selection was very good, as was the sauce itself, but the char on the broil was very heavy. If you like charbroiled wings, I'd try to ordering lightly charred unless you like carbonized. No complaints on the sauce though - I'm actually saving the rest for other projects. I've not had a chance to try the deep-fried wings. 2/5 2- Beef on Weck: The bun had maybe a bit too much salt on it, and the roast beef inside was relatively standard deli meat. Despite this, it was a decent sandwich, and the au jus sauce was excellent. This is coming from a very picky acquaintance, so to most this would likely be very good. They also said the coleslaw side was a bit heavy of the mayonnaise for their taste. 4/5 3 - Mushroom Swiss Burger: Advertised as having garlic butter. I'm a huge fan of garlic, so I was hoping for more garlic flavor, but other than that, it was a perfectly serviceable burger, with plenty of perfectly cooked meat. While this one was average for my particular tastes, I'm still willing to go back to try some of their other options (and it's definitely better than what you'd get from fast food) 3/5 4 - Oven Roasted Turkey Rachel: I didn't try these personally, but both of my acquittances that did raved about these. One who isn't a huge fan of "white meat" said it was juicy and flavorful, which is high praise from them. I will have to try this next time. 5/5 5 - Sides: As noted, one person said the coleslaw side was a bit heavy on the mayonnaise, but the two that had it one their Turkey Rachels were very happy. The regular fries were fairly standard, while for the sweet potato fries I though they were good while another thought they were a touch undercooked, so your mileage may vary. 3/5 Other - While not my thing, others have spoken highly of their various craft alcohol/beer selections. I've also previously tried their perogies: They deep fry them; while I prefer boiled or pan fired they were still very tasty. However, both of delivery and in person, they do tend to be a little slow, so be prepared for that. Overall - I'm glad to had another restaurant on the West Side, and the view really can't be beat (plus in the winter you don't have to deal with Yellow Jackets for Seagulls). I was happy enough with my first full meal that I'm going to give them a second shot, and in general I hope they stick around as they've got some unique...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place, but everything except the view was horrible. We arrived at 535 hoping to get a table on the deck . We stood waiting to be seated and was told to sit anywhere we wanted. There were no tables outside so we sat by the window. It took 30 minutes to get a menu and 45 minutes until our order was taken, ONLY AFTER I got up to ask if we could order. After 15 more minutes I had to go to the bar in order to get our drinks. It took an additional 45 minutes (1 hr total) until our food came out (2 of the 4 dishes we ordered) The next 2 dishes followed 5 minutes later. We were not given plates, napkins or utensils. Again I got up and took napkins and utensils from the bar. No plates. The waitress never came to check if we needed anything. The food was all awful. The beef nachos were smothered in imitation nacho cheese sauce and the ground beef was under cooked (pink) and in very large chunks. The chicken quesadilla was nasty. Huge chunks of chicken with cheese between 2 soft tortillas. The perogies were ok, but the fries that came with it were both burnt and soggy. The fried pickle spears were cold and soggy. 2.5 hours plus...
Read moreWe have eaten twice here. I was not impressed the first time but when my fiancé wanted to go back I figured we give it another try because he had really loved his burger the first time. We got there about 1pm and there were only about 5 other parties there at that time. The waitress walked by us a minimum of 5 times and did not say a word to us. Finally she came over to give us menus and order our drinks. We both ordered burgers and sweet potato fries. I learned the last time not to get the “Mac attack” burger because my Mac n cheese was so cold. So I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger well done and he ordered the one eyed pirate again med well. Both burgers were so over cooked they were burnt on the outside and everything was cold. We waited an hour for our food and I wasn’t interested in sending it back. I was hungry so I ate the burger and a few fries. He did as well. Oh and his burger should have had a fried egg on it and they were out of eggs but didn’t mention it until the food came out. The only positive is the view, the food, service, and comfort(my gosh those chairs are uncomfortable) were sub par. That is two strikes for me. I will...
