TLDR; top notch service, great food, will be back again to try more.
UPDATE JULY 2022: Came here w/ fam on the weekend. Chicken again and had the burger (would not recommend over the burgers). Had ice cream too, but one order was wrong (thought the extra bits expected were buried, so ate a little) and all orders were just too much (expecting 1 scoop, got three). Have to take a star off for 'meh' experience this time. /end
Writing from a Friday night in June, 2020. Ordered online the two chicken sandwiches (grilled, fried), chicken tenders w/ house sauce, the Hofmann dog, and two orders of onion rings.
Arrived for curbside pickup at the future scheduled time for pickup (later than the online suggested time). Called in, was answered quickly, and told the order would be out.
Waited 23 minutes - watched New York's clouds and the many people coming by (was a busy Friday night). The owner came out with the order, apologized for the wait, and asked how long I waited, what I did for my order, etc and assured me of action to iron out the online system (online times do not consider foot-traffic).
As an afterthought, the owner invited me into the diner. There, he gave me two ice creams with chocolate drizzle, free of charge (needless to say, I was touched).
The chicken was very large and quite juicy - some of the best fried chicken I've had (not greasy; might be from the gluten-free batter). The onion rings were also almost sweet, the house dipping sauce a very good match for it. The only 'meh' portion of the meal (the ice cream was tasty) happened to be the Hofmann dog. It was good as a hot dog, but it was a hot dog in a soft bun (about it) - would try the Coney dog instead.
Next time, will stop in for a shake, some of the hard ice cream, and both the Coney dog and burgers, though getting the chicken is a very viable option! Will be back - thanks to the owner's hospitality, quality of food, and...
Read moreI want to start by saying that I really want Green shutters to succeed. It's around the corner from my house and it's always been a convenient place to stop for ice cream or dinner when it's too hot to cook. Since the restaurant opened this year under new ownership, we've ordered dinner once and ice cream probably ten times. We keep going, hoping that as time goes on service will get better, and we're disappointed every time. We aren't complicated people. Reese's pieces sundaes are made the same way everywhere. Vanilla soft serve, hot fudge, peanut butter, Reese's pieces. The first time we ordered, we got burnt fudge and caramel. The second time, one sundae had at least three scoops of ice cream and the other had barely one. Tonight, they sent my husband home with chocolate ice cream, fudge, and Reese's pieces. All the while, we've never been charged the same amount for two sundaes. We really wanted to give them some time to get into the swing of things but at this point, I think we've had enough. We probably...
Read moreMy daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease last year, and it has been a huge adjustment for everyone. As we have tried to go to so called “gluten free” places before, only to have my daughter suffer from lack of knowledge or understanding of what needs to be done, and almost having a food phobia when trying to go out and eat…. Sebs is absolutely amazing. Everything was prepared separate, cooked separate, and even served separate. The owner and Uncle Sam (the owners actual uncle) are two of the most kind people I have ever met, and engaged us conversation on how everything was going, and how we liked Seb’s. I could go on for a long time on this.
If you have celiac and are looking for a place to eat, and want no worries about what you or a loved would eat, I would and do recommend Seb’s time and time again.
Amazing place, and thank you for everything that this experience has given...
