We would go back just for the food and drinks! My sister invited my girlfriend and I here to spend time with my nephew and share a meal. We enjoyed the artichoke sandwiches, which hers was on gluten-free bread that she thought was nice quality. The sandwhich filling was superb, and the ingredients were so fresh! We also split a London fog, and the tea was steeped for the perfect length for the amount of steamed milk (not too sweet, just the right spice). All this while watching my nephew play... priceless. My girlfriend also thought it would be a fun place to telework for an hour or two.

Great space for adults. Pretty restrictive rules and cost prohibitive for the children's play area.

They ā€œrecentlyā€ changed their policy. Came with my 2, 4, 6 and 9 year old. We knew that my oldest couldn’t play in the play area, however in the past they’ve been allowed to physically walk into the play area and sit by mom and interact with their younger siblings. Now they won’t even physically allow them to enter the play space with mom. My 6 and 9 year old have to physically stay outside the barrier. Which I’m fine and planned on with my 9 year old, but I’m not comfortable with my 6 year old daughter. So now I have to choose between staying with my oldest outside of the play area and leave the littles within, or vice versa. This cafe is no longer larger family friendly. If you only have one or two kiddos close in age it will work well for you. Disappointing, and makes it so I can’t come alone with all my children anymore.

Edited to add: decided to stay outside of the play area with my 6 year old, and shocker the 2 year old who I payed to play doesn’t want that physical separation from mom and wouldn’t play inside the area after all.

In response to owners response: It seems like you didn’t actually read my review or intend to understand it. It is not developmentally appropriate for my 2 year old to be in the play space separate from mom, and it is a safety concern for my 6 year old daughter to be physically separated from me outside of the play space. Awful things happen in this world quietly and quickly. There are multiple exit points and no safety measure for children that may be outside of the enclosure. Therefore I’m (and any other mom in my position) forced to make a decision I’m not comfortable with either way in order to use this cafe alone. Sure I could come with another adult, but I thought the point of a place like this was to give moms a change of scenery on a normal day to day. We’ll just have to make the drive out to Ontario Play Cafe instead, they are a larger family...

We have been here a bunch of times with no issues but just had an interesting encounter. After an hour of playing and us enjoying drinks and snacks in the process, a woman (presumable manager/owner?) asked a different couple if our toddler was theirs to which we said oh no she's ours. The woman said that she needed socks, which is fine if that's the rule, but the way it happened was bizarre. We said she had been playing for the last hour without them since we did't have any and didn't know the rule, and the woman said ohh, I didn't know that, well if she wants to keep playing you have to put socks on and we have them available for purchase for $1.50. The funny thing was nobody said that when we walked in or as she was playing so I would have expected a normal response to be something like "oh you guys have 20 minutes left that's our bad we didn't catch the socks first thing, here is a pair or yeah that's our bad, you only have a few minutes left don't worry about it." But, the whole interaction took place in front of the entire cafe and it's patrons since we were on the opposite side so it was rather off putting. By making a remark about the socks and purchase for $1.50 when we had 15 minutes left and in front of the whole cafe, she likely lost patrons who spend $20 there every few weeks. Disappointed in a spot where we used to meet up with...

Absolutely loved this place and would go twice a week until they suddenly changed their rules to have you paying 5$ an hour for play. Simply not worth that. The coffee is good, never tried their food but always looked good, just expensive. Staff is friendly. But since this price increase I doubt we will be coming back. Makes us very sad because my daughter loved it. But paying even 7.50 for 2 hours when there are so many free options out there, this place will lose a lot of business. There are limited toys and the place really only has 1 large structure for kids to play on. Was maybe worth the 5$ but the . Business could have easily increased prices on food items instead of on the moms who have limited options for their little ones and liked a quiet place to take them. If the price increase came with more toys or something maybe it would be different. It is very off putting to be handed a list of new rules and be told of an increase with no warning. I’m sure this will be off putting...
