I want everyone to know what Cooks Family Diner, specifically the Waitress did this morning at 1015, on the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
I went to Cooks for the first time today for Breakfast and a little chocolate milk. The service and food were phenomenal. I asked for my bill and the waitress said, "No bill today." Now I dont ever get emotional, but this was an act of kindness I did not expect. I was shocked. I left the diner and immediatly had to pull over to shed some tears, reflect on everything going on, and try to pull myself together.
I have been personally struggling with the recent issues in Afghanistan, the anniversary of 9/11, and a couple other personal events. Being a Soldier with almost 21 yrs in the Army, 3 combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan immediatly after 9/11, this is a tough time for myself and my fellow soldiers. I am also a police officer and that has been "fun" the last few years.
To the Waitress, I greatly appreciate your kindness. What you did will never be forgotten. I will be dining with you all again very soon.
Please support this Diner and the staff. You will not be disappointed. I cannot express how impressed I am with the Waitress and...
Read moreToday was my first time eating at cooks diner, I wasn’t pleased with the French toast. Maybe it was just who cooked it? I don’t know but the people there are nice and they have a some pretty good coffee. I think they might need to hire another cook though. Someone who actually knows how to cook French toast and someone who actually know how to make some scrambled eggs. When I got there they weren’t even busy and they brought me some food as if they didn’t even really have time to make it or like it was just sitting there. Get ready to run and catch that syrup because man is it runny. Not sure if I’ll go back. I might just for the old car guys that go there. They must have been going there sense they were in high school? That’s awesome. I felt obligated to tell them to let me go into the back and show them how to make French toast properly. The French toast is what got me to come in, in the first place. You have to have good French toast. The people behind us ordered the same thing. French toast. I wanted to tell them not to order it because it was like buttered cardboard. But I figured hey maybe they just like serving new...
Read moreI am concerned about the owner's instructions to the staff regarding handling the change returned to customers. I overheard the owner instructing the server not to break down the change. As a former waitress, I believe it is essential to give customers adequate change. The waitress would have likely received a better tip if we had been given better service. However, receiving a ten-dollar and one-dollar bill as change felt presumptuous, especially considering that the service did not warrant such a generous tip. Typically, I make an effort to tip well. We also felt uncomfortable being watched during our meal, which made the...
