Always Rays! I've been coming to this place since I worked here back in 1988! It was under different management then, but the food is still as good as ever. It's been my place to go, for a Friday fish fry regularly, for well- since 1988! And their fresh cut fries ( I know- I used to make them- it's a unique machine- that delivers magic!) with gravy, are Must Have. Giant beef on weck.
Sometimes- I even get the seafood platter with my family, instead of just the fish fry. That fish fry, is the best one around bar none. This one's worth it, enjoy the scenic drive down Rt18 ( Lake Rd.) A childrens menu is available too. My nephew loves their chicken fingers.
Worthy of mention is that they have house made soup. I almost always substitute it for something else, and take it home.
The haddock fish is always light and flakey, with a crispy beer batter- or try broiled. Their french fries are house cut.
We also had a tender beef on weck roll, you'll be in heaven if you order gravy with that and/or the fries.I got complimentary rolls with my fish, and mini cornbread squares, on the side. If you're lucky enough to remember, (ask) if there may be a special dessert on the menu.
My favorite? Lemon meringue pie! Don't wait, these homemade desserts go quick. Friendly staff, although it can get busy early (before 6p), on Friday's... so plan accordingly. I've never waited more than 15min- that's rare, and worth the wait.
There are darts/pool table adjacent to the main bar, and seating as well as lotto/ quick draw. Takeout is available.( call. ahead during business hours) it's owner operated, and they are more than willing to accommodate. The locals are quite knowledgeable, about the Lake Ontario district/more and do freqent this establishment.
Clean restrooms not wheelchair accessible though( accessible seating/parking).
I support local businesses for a reason. They put their heart and soul into pleasing and you won't be disappointed. Casual attire, friendly faces. Did I mention, great...
Read moreWe had a large group of ten people. Not a difficult person amongst us. Not a busy afternoon. We were told they had great food and had been looking forward to trying it out. There were two waitresses from what we could see...again...not busy. Apparently our waitress drew the short straw. Maybe it was one of "those" days. Who knows? We all went around the table with our orders as she scribbled away, furiously. Maybe she was running out of room on her note pad? I asked how they prepared the bacon as I am not a fan of bacon that has the texture of jerky on a sandwich. She assured me that it was not overcooked. Then I asked if I could have the BLT, which has a chicken breast on it, without the chicken. I wasn't terribly hungry. She immediately snapped that she would still have to charge me the same, to which I replied that I had no problem. The person next to me placed their order and I noticed that I wasn't asked if I wanted a side. I was in the mood for some fries. So I asked, politely, if I could add them. She sighed heavily, rolled her eyes and wrote it down. Every person at the table noticed this. Dramatic. We all joked that it was just too much, apparently. She continued to make us feel like we were bothering her the entire meal. After we left we all were in the parking lot sharing our quips about who set her off and what could have possibly happened before we arrived. There is no excuse for this. The food was good. The older, other waitress was a pleasure to watch attend to her tables with a smile and a caring demeanor. We...
Read moreJust a few years ago we ate here a lot. Service was great, food very good, fish fries - good, but fast forward to today. Due to circumstances beyond our control my wife and I can not eat in only take out. Hamburgers… we have determined they are excellent, I don’t think you can find better. Then I had the meatloaf on Wednesday. I love meatloaf, mashed potatoes a vegetable. That’s a good home style meal… BUT… this was really bad, I thought long and hard what good I could say… nothing. First the meatloaf is stuffing mix and I could only find one or two bits of ground beef. It was awful, if it was good stuffing I could have eaten it but it was bad. The vegetable was green beans… from a can. If you know you are not putting beef in the meatloaf you could have a fresh vegetable. The mashed potatoes you CAN’T ruin those, thank God I could eat those. The chef salad was good but it was not able to make this meal something I could rate more than 1/2 a star. 5 stars for the hamburger, 1/2 for the meatloaf (salad and mashed potatoes).. over all 3 stars… I think it’s generous. I’ll be back for the hamburgers. I hear the Wings are very good maybe...
