I am sad to say that I was very disappointed with the Lobster House. I had called days ahead of time to arrange a special meal for my partner's birthday, and it was never relayed to the waiting staff or kitchen staff.
I had worked out prices and things like that I even knew how much to leave for a tip because it was kind of a combo dinner, and no one knew about it.
I can't blame the waitress, but I was still taken aback that nobody left a message for the hostess. I had even called that day to relay a message to the hostess who hadn't checked in yet, and it explained a little bit about what I had spoken to some staff about and tried to make her aware that I wanted the night to be special.
We had made reservations and I was very excited, but they were late seating is. I understand there can be miscommunication and things like that, but I had even told the hostess when we arrived that it was a special meal.
I had the porterhouse steak and to me it had no flavor, or seasonings. My partner had to order off the menu and he was happy with his prime rib and king crab. His prime rib to me was delicious, but I thought the porterhouse would have been just as good.
I was in tears, trying to hide my face for part of the time because I wanted this to be so special. I had lost my appetite knowing all the calls and notes I made to prepare for his meal had fallen apart.
Our waitress knew that although it wasn't her fault she knew I was disappointed because I did not eat much of my meal there. She did bring him a dessert for him with a candle for his birthday and she said she couldn't make up for the problems but she hope that helped.
If I ever go again, I will still make a reservation and hope they take us at that time and not 10 minutes later, and I will probably get the prime rib. But at this time, The Lobster House left a bad taste in my mouth.
I also found the ambiance to be very busy and packed with tables and booths. I don't know if they have another dining room but for something romantic, or private, the dining room we sat in was not the place to be.
If there is another dining room that is more private I wish we could have been in there. Although I know it is a family restaurant, I had asked for more privacy and I imagine they did the best they could.
I had heard so many good things about this restaurant, and the disappointment I felt to celebrate a loved one's birthday makes me feel like they let me down as a customer and that is not the way...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell, I guess we should have read the reviews first before we decided to eat here. I will start with the positives, but there are very few. Our waitress was very friendly, the speed of the service was reasonably acceptable, and the pre-dinner salads were good...they are made with spring mix and not iceberg lettuce. Now for the negatives...for a restaurant to name itself "Lobster House", you would expect the lobster to be their star attraction. Not the case ! My boyfriend ordered the Seafood Alfredo which was supposed to contain lobster, shrimp, and scallops. None of the seafood was fresh; it was rubbery and overcooked and I am by no means a lobster connoisseur but the lobster was imitation ! I ordered the Alaskan King Crab. You could tell it was old and frozen. There is a reason they hand out scissors in addition to the shell crackers. When you tried to crack the shells, they wouldn't crack, they would bend. King Crab is supposed to be sweet. This crab was sour and chewy. I had to basically drown the crab in the butter just to eat it. Very disappointed ! Needless to say, we will not be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe made reservations for 6pm on a Saturday and we're glad we did. The parking lot was packed as was the restaurant! We we're seated immediately.
Despite being friendly, the service was super slow. After we finished our first round of drinks (which was merely pop), after taking our glasses she came back 5 minutes later asking if we wanted refills. One can assume that would have been the question to ask when she took our glasses.hmm.
Anyway, we had calamari for an appetizer. It was a small portion but it was actually pretty good. For dinner I had the lobster alfredo /coconut shrimp dish with steamed veggies. The Alfredo was not that great, it had no taste. The coconut shrimp was good though! Hubby had chicken Alfredo/shrimp scampi and he didn't care for either.
We skipped dessert because they were out of carrot cake. It was also insanely hot in the restaurant so we decided to leave.
From start to finish we were in the restaurant nearly 2 hours! Granted, it was busy...but two hours is a long time. Our bill for two was about $52 before tip.
I don't foresee going back...
