The Crooked Oar — Restaurant in Town of Prairie du Chien

DO NOT GO THERE ON ANY HOLIDAY WEEKEND! We went on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend because we liked the food (2:23 pm). The bartender was very nice, acknowledged us right away, and asked us what we wanted to drink and if we needed menus that all went will. We got our drinks and ordered some food. At 2:50 pm. I asked the bartender about our food, she said it was coming right up. Meawhile, a group of 8 people who came in well after us got food. At this point, I asked the bartender to cancel our food, she went back into the kitchen and came back out a few minutes later, still no food. Then she said it would be out next. I informed the owner/manager that we had been waiting for our food for about an hour, and a large group of people came in after us and got their food before us. And she told me that is because they ordered appitizers. That didn't make any sesene to me as I ordered poppers and mini tacos, and my husband ordered the days special none of the food should of taken an hour to make, We were never told there was a delay on our order. They wouldn't let us cancel the order and she demanded that we paid her for th food that we never got and never ate, we left at 3:20 pm. It all could of been avoided by the bartender or management informing us that the kitchen was behind, and GIVING...

We have been to this bar/grill many times. I'm so disappointed tonight. Our server had only one table in the 1 hr and 40 mins we were there. They were not busy, there were some people at the bar rail and just 3 other tables. After finally ordering, 1 of 3 appetizers was delivered to the table as an appetizer. The rest came with the meal. The customer that had ordered the special, was told it was no longer available. A table that arrives about 30 min after us, had received the special that we were told was unavailable. After an hour of waiting for our food (which were fried foods...) we asked staff about our food. We asked a different staff and was told "it's on, 10 mins tops." We waited another 20 minutes. We had to ask our server again for a pop when the food arrived, something that was ordered when our server first asked. We also tried to order more drinks at the bar and didn't get any service. We even observed a customer finish cleaning off a table to sit down. I don't know if they were short staffed in the kitchen... but that was the worst service and length of time for...

We came for Labor Day weekend. SUPER busy but we were able to find a table in the back. We had a larger group and understood it would be on one check with auto 20% tip. We then received the worst service ever. Our waitress seemed to hate being at her job and I’ve never felt like I was inconveniencing someone more for wanting to order food. Another group of 6 arrived after us, the staff told them the wait would be an hour and 20 minute wait for food. They got their food and left 30 minutes before we got our food. Half of the orders we got were incorrect and that was AFTER being told we may not get all of our food cause they were running out of things. Skip this place if you are trying to find a spot to eat. Nice for a drink and...
