Winneshiek Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Prairie du Chien

Being from out of town, we had never been in but were always curious. So Thursday we came in after reading some decent reviews on the food. Cool layout, the people were friendly enough & I really wanted to like the place but no fish dinner on the menu? I thought this was a marina ON the Mississippi River. I truly thought the waitress was kidding when she dryly said "we don't have fish". Probably should have left right then, but OK, I order the wings & the wife orders a chicken bacon wrap. Waitress brings me my wings & tells my wife she's sorry, but the cook made her a chicken sandwich by mistake & was now working on her wrap. She finally brings the wrap out & no bacon? The wife ended up eating the wrap (the waitress knocked $1.00 off of it) & I ate 2 of the most flavorless, little wings I've ever seen & just left the rest. We ended up at Eddie's Irish Pub & had some excellent food. It's a shame, because it's a cool-looking little place in a good location. My friend and I had a lunch date here shortly after noon. When we got there, the place wasn't very busy. Our drinks were brought out and our order was taken. As we sat there for over a half hour, people who came in after us was getting their food before us. It was 12:45 and still no food, so we said that we needed to take our food to go. We went inside to wait only to find out that the waitress never put our order in to the cooking staff. As the waitress was freaking out, we said that we can no longer stay for her to put our order in, so we both left hungry and dissatisfied. Only a few short miles and minutes away from Country Inn and Suites. Easy to get to and it has a very scenic view.

Soft drinks were a very reasonable price with refills! Ordered one adult drink that was only $5. They have bucket specials on a variety of beverages.

Appetizers were fried hot and fresh and very tasty. Burger was good, looked like from frozen patties. Chicken sandwich was good. Fries were very fresh. Taco Salad was very enjoyable there and as leftovers later that night.
