Bagel Shoppe — Restaurant in Town of Red Hook

Let me just start by saying that this one star has NOTHING to do with the staff or the food that comes from this place!!! The staff here is excellent, they all make great sandwiches, wraps, and bagels. Always have a cheerful smile and are very respectful to the customers.

With that I have been coming here for little over a year now about once a week sometimes more for breakfast, and I have now noticed in the last few weeks or so that the prices have went through the roof, coffee almost $5 a cup, I’m sorry but for a make your own cup of coffee that is ridiculous, I have seen the regular crowd start to dwindle away as Managment has made more and more changes. This little local shop use to be a staple for locals great food at a great price now the prices have went crazy!!

I also think that most rarely have cash on them, so to tip the works for their service is impossible because shop doesn’t have the option to put the tip on a card, management really needs to think about that and change it so their workers can get tips when people want to but only have a card.

I’ll still come here for my regular breakfast but only because of the 3 main employees they have during the week if it wasn’t for them I would find somewhere else to go!! And I’m sure a lot have the...

This used to be one of my favorite bagel shops but they have gone down hill. The staff is often unfriendly and more concerned about talking to each other. Every time I order a western omelette they mess it up. The last time I ordered it I got eggs with peppers and onion and no ham. I didn’t return for a long time and decided to give this place a try again. Ordered the western omelette and got eggs with salsa. When I called the person who picked up was rude and told me, “well that’s a western omelette.” I spoke with someone else and was told that what they had given me was a Tex-mex omelette and not what I ordered. No option to refund over the phone. After driving 15 minutes there, picking up my incorrect order, and driving 15 minutes back the last thing I want to do is drive back and forth again. I’ve been coming here for breakfast a couple of times a week (or at least I used to). I always found it odd that you couldn’t tip the staff with a credit card, but assumed it was due to an old point-of-sale system.

Now that they’ve upgraded to Clover — which absolutely allows tipping — I was excited to finally show appreciation for the team. But to my surprise, tipping is still completely disabled. That’s not a technical limitation — that’s a decision by ownership.

Owners, why don’t you let me CHOOSE to give your staff money? Are you still living in the 1950’s? Literally every coffee shop, bagel shop, and café in the country allows tipping. All of them.
