This one is a hard one for me write because I’ve usually had alright but not life changing experiences at Del’s in the past - especially before they did their renovation, but I would agree with numerous other people here that the menu prices have definitely reached a point to where you’re looking at $100+ dollars for a family meal with ice cream. No joke.

Went here on 4/14/23 and I found it a little unreasonable that the total was $32 and change for a hot dog, a cheeseburger, an order of fries, and two fountain drinks (everything here is one size for the record).

The burger was thin, small, and greasy. The cheese left more to be desired. For dessert, we ordered 2 milkshakes ($14) and both tasted like old, stale milk from an improperly cleaned soft serve machine that left a terrible aftertaste.

The only thing that tasted great were the fries. Well seasoned and hot. Now, I can definitely get behind those.

While I’m totally understanding and conscientious of the fact that food prices have gotten more expensive with inflation on the rise as of late, I’m starting to feel like there’s a point where I have to speak up about the serving sizes that you get here versus the prices they’re asking.

This has very much turned into touristy Manhattan-priced food that caters perfectly to the vacationing young professionals and their families of the five Burroughs looking for a place to eat - after they exit their Airstream Airbnb located conveniently in Rhinebeck or the surrounding area.

Surrounded by orthopedic huaraches, niche made Williamsburg imported sun hats, and the numerous Tesla model 3’s flanking the parking lot, you’re in for a treat if you enjoy people watching when you stop here over the weekend.

Anyways, if you’re looking to get a whiff of what ā€œHudson Valley Livingā€ is, then sure, come here.

I’ll assume they weren’t having a great day today and sure, I’ll be back but, these last couple of visits, we’ve been unfortunately having experiences that are apropos to what’s been said above.

Edit:...

Man! I USED to love eating here. I always encouraged my stupid friends to go here and eat but that was prior to the numb faced dim speaking palearctic tortoise of an old man whom happens to be thee chef. Astonishingly he believes he has the wit and cunning of his teenage years and continues to double as a part time cashier. Somewhere between 10 and 20 seconds gurgling out broken Italian accented English he completely mangles the order. For heavens sake were talking about applying the buffalo sauce on the chicken for a buffalo chicken pita I suppose the multitasking is just to much as it was not only me stripped clean of the complete and sauce sandwich but my buddy's buffalo sauce also never made it out of the bottle in this tortoise kitchen. Not to mention we realized once in the comfort of his vehicle this arrogant Corelone neglected to provide the gold shaving topped melted cheese. I say that because I don't know how else my $7 pita turns into at least $12.50. Every single time. Did this happen one time? NO it seems to be a more then common occurence ever since this Shutter Island cafeteria cook began developing Alzheimer's. Anyway it's great when the sauce makes it on my sanfwhich and I'm willing to give Dels another shot to redeem itSelf . I hold Gilbert's Grapes hoping my next visit will...

We were going through the area on our way to Montreal biking the Empire State Trail and needed to fill up on carbs.

The 100+ cows 🐮 next to the store made us stop and say ā€œLet’s help these local farmers instead some fast food places further down the road!

Ordered their salad šŸ„— with grilled chicken and a lavender, blueberry & honey milkshake.

OMG 😱 what a beautiful culinary experience for less than $20 It was the best food I’ve had in the US for the past year and you don’t have to watch TV to know that fast food nation isn’t really famous for being good at healthy eating!

From Manhattan up there had been nothing but fast food, crappy pizza joints and Chinese you pay as you go tasteless cuisine.

So to be served by two young adults who knew every menu item as if they had invented the recipe and then eat in peace with a stunning view over the farm you could not be more proud of yourself for biking along this road and treat yourself for this delicious meal.

Folks, get out of your TV dinner coach and savour what America is about: farmers working hard to get a healthy meal on the table!

Note: electric bikes are also welcome if you need to get your cardio in shape...

Stopped in here for lunch after taking our child to see Bard on a college visit. This place is awesome. The staff were so friendly, food came out fast. Plenty of shaded outdoor seating. The Camino burger was spicy and juicy, fries were a big portion and came with a free soda (yum to that black cherry). We got some pints of ice cream to go and they were all quite good, but the honey lavender blueberry was especially unique and tasty. This place is well worth the visit.

Such a cute roadside diner type place, all their food is warm fresh and great portions, and their ice cream is a must! They have 2 vegetarian options that can be made vegan and 2 vegan icecreams and despite the beyond pita being a bit greasy from the vinigarette its extremely delicious (but I would get it without next time), their staff are always super friendly and dining outside on the picnic area right next/behind it is just so fun!

Stopped in for a chocolate milk shake. Great staff, the shake was good, but the price per serving was ridiculous. I ordered a large shake and paid $7.50 for a beverage that fit in the palm of my hand. The Cherry Top in Plattekill, The Jolly Cow in Lake Katrine, and Twisty Cone in New Paltz give you nearly double the size serving for $2 less. If you want to pilfer my wallet, at least give me something that looks worth it.
