After an early stop in Montour Falls, we hit the road toward the White Mountains in NH, stomachs growling like weâd been fasting for a week. The next breakfast spot was an hour away, but it was worth every mile: The Richford Diner.
This little country diner is the definition of small-town charm. Friendly service? Check. Cozy vibe? Double check. And the kind of people who make you feel like youâve just wandered into a neighborâs kitchen? Absolutely. We went with simple, protein-packed breakfasts (trying to keep the carbs under control⌠until the smell of toast nearly broke us), and it was exactly the fuel we needed for the road.
The highlight wasnât just the food, thoughâit was the warmth of the woman running the place (weâre pretty sure she was the owner) and the adorable cameos from her kids, who somehow made the diner even cuter.
Bottom line: The Richford Diner is worth the detour. Come for the hearty breakfast, stay for the small-town kindness, and leave feeling like youâve just been adopted into...

Read moreThe Red Rooster surprised me. I've driven by this little country diner many times, and today, along with a group of friends, we gave it a try. I initially wasn't sure what to expect, but after the meal we had (and it certainly was a meal) I would recommend this place to anyone who appreciates a good old fashioned breakfast. A few of us ordered the #4, which is sausage gravy over biscuits. It also comes with eggs cooked to your preference, as well as home fries. What we received was a large plate full of food, all of which tasted fantastic. Our waitress was very friendly and kept our coffee's full. The prices were very reasonable as well, with my bill coming out to $11 for the #4 and a coffee. We will definitely be returning here...
