Courtyard — Restaurant in Town of Rockland

A group of friends and I stopped into this restaurant while on vacation from NYC (it was recommended by another local spot we went to) and we were met at the door by a rude woman who made us feel so unwelcome that we ended up leaving after 5 min. She first scolded us for not calling ahead (it was 2pm on a Monday and half the restaurant was empty…), followed by telling us she can’t seat us/serve all of us food. We tried to negotiate by suggesting we just sit at the bar or play pool and order drinks and a few appetizers instead of being seated, to which the bartender scoffed “they’re not sitting at MY bar”. At this point we felt so awkward and unwelcome that we left. Can’t help but wonder if it’s because we were such a diverse group.. Do...

Fought off flies the whole time we were there seated inside at the bar. Calamari arrived so dark and overcooked it was like eating the sole of a shoe. Never should have left the kitchen to be served . Fries were one step away from soggy and cold. Mixed drinks were inconsistently made...proportions were way off. Tasted like totally different drinks. Glass was empty for 10 minutes before bartender noticed as she was on her cell more than not. Surprisingly the wings and fried fish were good. Prices were a little high but would be justified if food and service were better. There were 2 of us...4 mixed drinks, 2 appetizers and 2 main meals...over $105 before tip. Always wanted to stop here and very disappointed. Probably will...

Just stopped in with a group of friends and the staff was immediately hostile and rude to us despite us being very polite and friendly. The bartender loudly said “they’re not sitting at MY bar.” She yelled at us for not calling ahead for a larger group. Meanwhile, the reason we went there is because another local spot recommended it. We even offered to just play pool and order some appetizers and drinks instead of sitting for lunch. And still they were extremely rude and basically told us to leave. I’m not sure why an open restaurant wouldn’t want the business, especially when there was plenty of room to sit, but either way this was an extremely awkward, unnecessary, and disrespectful situation on their part.
