If there was an ability to give this place ten stars I would. We went here a few weeks ago on a Friday night to celebrate a friends birthday. It was like if you happened to know the chef at the most highly rated restaurant in NYC and he invited you to his house for a private dinner he made and served himself, that is the best way I can describe it.
The restaurant itself was so cozy and homey it felt like you were being invited to their dining table for an experience. We were 14 people and took up half of the space. The decor is everything you’d hope for in a restaurant with farmhouse in its name, cozy, homey, warm, and fresh.
Now for the food. Get ready for the tastebud experience of a lifetime. Every dish was prepared with heart, every ingredient carefully selected to elevate the food. We had the baked clams appetizer and the garlic bread. First of all you get 12 clams in the appetizer plate, it is an entire meal, with bread! And then the garlic bread is an entire French loaf of bread all buttery and garlicky. By the end of the appetizers you are stuffed! The clams are simmering on the pan in this indescribably delicious sauce that you mop up with the fresh crusty bread until every last drop is wiped clean. They were so good we couldn’t even wait for them to cool down before eating them. We also tried the meatballs that another couple got at the table and that gravy stands up against any nonna’s gravy I have ever had. I literally want to go back and try EVERYTHING ON THE MENU!!
For main courses I got the duck ramen and my husband had the Bolognese. The ramen is unbelievable, the broth has so much depth of flavor. The homemade noodles just the right amount of bite to hold up to soaking up all of that flavorful broth. The homemade pasta in the Bolognese was so spot on I would have eaten half of my husbands dinner too if I wasn’t so stuffed. It was so good I was craving it the next day! I did take a taste of the curry shrimp ramen as well and that is what I am definitely ordering the next time we go back. Every single person at the table was happy with their food!
Now for the staff. The guy that owns this place is a legend. Not only did he make a full course meal single handedly for a party of 14 glutinous people but he came out to the table and entertained, talked, and laughed with us as well. Truly an amazing experience and a really remarkable guy. The fact that he is back in that kitchen whipping up culinary magic and then just comes to the table to really get to know you and answer all of your questions took the experience to a whole new level. The food service was quick, we always had everything we needed, never an empty glass, I’m not kidding this place is really doing something right!
I have gone to eat at a lot of places and this one definitely lands in the top three. To top it all off it was not overly pricey like you would expect for someplace with food this good. Go to Roscoe. Eat here. It’s to die for....
Read moreI don't usually take the time to write a review but Northern Farmhouse Pasta deserves this review at a minimum. We eat out very frequently and gravitate towards Fine Dining and Farm To Table restaurants and do our best to support LOCAL and Independently owned businesses. It was our daughters 13th birthday and we were looking for a day out with some unique things to do and try in an area we haven't visited. After finding Buck Brook Alpacas (which was great) we needed a place to eat locally.. Let me start off by saying that this place could be in NYC right up there with some of the best Italian food eateries NYC has to offer. WOW! Now, please don't move to the city because what makes you so unique will be lost in the concrete jungle.. This place is special from the rustic farmhouse, to the properly decorated/furnished dining room and most of all the owner Robert. I come from the hospitality business and can recognize people who really care about what product they put out, see how they prioritize their guests experiences and make you feel at home. The food was fantastic and guess what? It was REAL food, not the garbage you get at convenience places. We had a party of 6 and took full advantage of that number ordering several items from all categories of the menu. Not one item disappointed and that's a tough one given we had 4 kids: 11, 13, 14 & 15 along with Mom and Dad. As an added special touch I had e-mailed Robert a few days prior stating it was our daughters birthday and we would like to do dessert there as well. He graciously offered to make a Torta Caprese so we could sing at the table. OMG, this dessert blew our minds! I swear it came out of the oven only a short while ago as the texture and flavors were perfect. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to Robert and his team at Northern Farmhouse Pasta. We will be back for sure because you guys have a gem up there in Roscoe NY. Hope we can still get a table after this and the other great reviews I have seen. Whether you are in the area or need a new place to try and make it a destination you...
Read moreI've been to Northern Farmhouse Pasta a handful of times for dinner this year and have been blown away each time. The squid ink pasta with the scallops was so yummy - scallops cooked perfectly! The eggplant parm was so good too - perfectly melted/slightly crispy cheese on it, which for me, is what I love about homemade eggplant parm and they used real eggplant, not that frozen sheet stuff a lot of other places use. Also, if you like clams you need to order the cast iron baked clams app, they are so good! The chef/owner is creative with his menu and prices for the size of meals/apps are low - it makes it easy to order a little of this and that so you can try lots of the menu and have left overs for the next day. Oh and did I mention the fresh pasta is to die for?
While the restaurant itself is small, they do their best to accommodate everyone. Other patrons are friendly too - the last time I was there a party of 2 offered up their larger table so my party of 3 could sit more comfortably. They happened to see us sitting at a smaller table and just offered, so nice of them and goes to show how people in the area are super friendly! If you have a large party, recommend that you call and make a reservation just in case it happens to be a busy day for them. Sometimes it is easy to walk in and get a table right away while other times they are packed to the gills - though I would imagine they'll continue to be packed with how great the food is!
Next up is trying their brunch menu - have heard it is great but haven't had a chance to make the trip from Boston to make it there by...
