Monte Grab & Go — Restaurant in Town of Saint Johnsville

Was very disappointed. Got this delivered and they got both drinks wrong. We ordered a sprite and Dr Pepper for our kids they brought mt Dew and Pepsi. The fish and the sub sandwich we order was amazing! However the spicy chicken was horrible. The picture looks like a hand breaded crispy chicken with onion and coleslaw. When I called the guy told me that wasn’t the way he made it but he would make it for me if I wanted it. The chicken was a cheap frown chicken patty that was chewy and not all white meat. The coleslaw was ok but was barely enough to put on a quart of the sandwich. The spicy “sauce” was like a paste and was only in the Center. I was really ticked that I was given a cheap frozen patty when the other items were so good. I still gave two stars because delivery guy was so sweet and the other items were good. Okay, c’mon! This is a hidden gem! No pun intended for the Herkimer Diamond area, but seriously! The store is super neat and clean. The deli is where I shopped. The food display was something out of NY City style deli. The food choice are too many to count. Deli salads of all kinds and cheese cakes galore! Or, get something made!

I had a dinner to go - fried shrimp over rice. It was so good, I am purposely stopping again when I’m in the area. I also got a hoagie to go to have for lunch the next day while mining locally. It had so much fresh meat and was stuff full, I shared half.

The menu choices are many, unique and common, per se. If you are travel the thruway, it’s more than worth the time to exit and eat there. There is a Stewart’s gas station across the street so you can gas up too!

I’m so glad to hade such an amazing spot in such a small town! New York style bodega and deli (and smoke shop!) with everything you could want, snacks and drinks, and an awesome deli with a huge menu.

The chopped cheese was absolutely divine, positively a revelation for such a small town to have so close. I look forward trying the rest of the menu, and I think the breakfast items will be next.

It was a huge serving of freshly prepared food at 9.99 that would cost double that or more most places these days.
