Sammy Cohen's Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Schaghticoke

First ever visit to Sammy Cohens, and was not very satisfied here. My cocktail was supposed to be a pineapple muddled margarita, but was very sour to the point of being unenjoyable.

The seafood in the cup of seafood chowder was rubbery, and overcooked. I ordered the cottage pie, but could not easily distinguish what was corn, and what was smashed potato. The demi glaze didn't quite work in the dish, as it was way too acidic.

My guest had the brisket patty melt, but the brisket she got in her sandwich had a really big lump of fat in the middle, and was just a mess. Any attempt she made to reconstruct the sandwich was unsuccessful as it was just a greasy mess. The french fries were lacking any potato flavor, and tasted like unsalted fryer oil.

Not happy at all with the overall quality of the food. I feel like quality control was lacking. We left most of our meal on the plate, and just wanted to leave. I feel like there are better options within a few hundred yards...

Visited for the first time after hearing that Chef Dave from Faldoni's became the new head chef last week. Very nice place in Schaghticoke just off route 40. Large U shaped bar, serving great drinks all night. Placed filled up around 6-6:30 with many friendly locals who talked across the bar. Had the NY strip steak cooked mid-rare and it was spot on, seasoned wonderfully with a tasty loaded baked potato. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food was flying out of the kitchen. We were married at my husband's family farmhouse in Johnsonville on 09/18/2021 and held our rehearsal dinner for about 25 people at Sammy Cohen's the evening before. We had had their food in the past and knew it was good, but the quality combined with their service and the atmosphere were great! We were able to not only use the banquet room that we had booked, but to sit out on the lovely back patio, which I had never noticed before but will certainly take advantage of again.
