So... Just to be clear.. I owned my own restaurant in Hamilton, for 15 years... The info they have online, about their pricing, is not only not accurate... It's ludicrous... Even in these inflationary times. Online, a large tuna sub with cheese and lettuce is $7.50 ok.. I added black olives. A large turkey sub with lettuce tomato and added bacon. $9.00 A large tossed salad. 4.60 I placed my order by phone, and my friend picked it up for me... The bill was $33.48 Anyway you stretch this... This is ridiculous. When I my friend asked the counter person, why the bill was so much, she said, "I don't know" and moved to next person behind him. As to the food... The sandwiches were large and the tuna, itself, was decent, removed from the miserable soggy half baked bread (it's true)... The rest of the contents of the sandwich were wet, scant and removed with the bread. My friend's sandwich bread was just as soggy and half baked as mine. The turkey and bacon were plentiful but the lettuce and tomato were wet and removed. THE local town, Italian and pizzeria joint, should do so much better. And for $33.48?? For 2 lousy subs and a salad that was 99% iceberg lettuce. We were going to order from Subway up the street, but I said, well, I bet Joe and Vinny would make a better sub. Not. It's not ok in this world of online ordering to have such drastically incorrect pricing info online... And to have counter people that can't answer where or why you were charged almost twice as much as stated online is highway robbery. And the food was crappy. I won't be back. Save your money. Go to Subway or Stewart's gas station. It's a privilege to have anyone choose to spend their money at any business. I know. I feel cheated of a decent dinner.. (for New Years Eve, no less) and I feel like my pocket got picked. No customer should ever be so disrespected. It's not nice, and I can't imagine it's good business. I hope the the owner see this, and maybe... Maybe, the next person in line will have a different experience. Update... I felt a little bad about this review because... Well coulda been an off night. I called today and spoke to Vinny, the conversation was very polite. After going over what I was charged and for what... He said, first of all, I was charged 4% extra for using a credit card. He said he is not responsible for any info on line and doesn't see the purpose of correcting or posting information online. He doesn't post about the cc surcharge and defends it by saying, everyone does it. He said in fact, after reviewing my order, I was undercharged and should have been charged $36.75 for the food, plus 4% surcharge for using a cc plus 8% tax. Which would have come to $41.28 for a large tuna sub, a large turkey club sub and a box of iceberg lettuce. Wow. I bet it would be less at Trump Tower. I was disappointed in that I received no apology for my negative experience, erroneous information and surcharges I wasn't aware of. It's his business. He can run it as he wishes. And I can make the choice not yo patronize him. Sherburne suggestions. If Stellas meat and deli are open... Go there. Good bread, prices and ingredients. If they aren't open, Subway is just up the block at one gas station, and Stewart's across the street from J&V is half the price for pizza and subs and prices are accurate and food more consistent and..well, the sandwiches are better. The diner is a choice and Judi's in the parking lot behind the fire station is fabulous if you keep early hours. I really do hate to leave a bad review for any small business owner, but, I really wouldn't want anyone to have the same...
Read moreThree times we've stopped in for food since last November. First time my mom and I were just grabbing slices. It was mid afternoon and the place was quiet. We were just coming from a funeral and heading to see my dad who was in the hospital, so we're looking to get something quick to eat. We picked out a couple, paid for the slices and coffee and sat down. The new owner puts the already cooked slices in the oven and forgot about them. When I asked about 15-20 minutes later, they were burnt. He claimed he thought we had left. Said he looked around for us and didn't see us. The place is small. We sat near the coffee counter, since we were both drinking coffee. We were just out of view from the counter where you would order. We watched for the slices to come and he never showed his head around the corner. But he tried to make it up to us by handing back some cash for the trouble. The next time wasn't as bad, I called in an order for calzones to go with sauce in them. They came without sauce, so owner gave me a little plastic to-go container of sauce for them. This last time it is apparent that the new owner needs to get his act together. I called in an order for three calzones plus a large pizza with toppings. Waited 30 minutes before leaving the house to pick up the order. There were three people or groups of people waiting for orders when I got there. The new owner appeared to be busy, running around trying to fix other people's orders that got mixed up. There was one guy making pizzas, a couple of girls making appetizers and subs and another employee who was trying to do his own job in the back plus help customers up front. Owner tells the guy to "Don't worry about her.". The guy apologizes and goes to try help the owner who was trying to fix other people's orders first. Owner definitely needs classes on how to treat the employees. Yelled at the girls making subs, wings, whatever. "I've told you three times you need to bag subs and appetizers together so people get their orders!". Personally, I don't think a cold sub should be placed in a plastic bag with hot foods. The items were wrapped in paper bags with order slips stapled to them. When they get the other orders cleared up, the one guy asks what I ordered. Checked around, had found three calzones in a box. Okay, good. But then looked for the pizza and only found two cheese pizzas. No pizzas in the oven ready to come out, only a sheet pizza about ready to go in the oven. Our large pizza with toppings was not there. Owner throws some cold toppings on the pizza and stuffs it in the oven and tells me he'll take some money off the bill to make up for it then disappears. Maybe if the owner did a little more hands on work and paid attention to what he was doing rather than running around and putting blame on the employees, the place...
Read moreI called and asked if there was a veggie pizza. They said yes. After getting home I realized I was charged $31 for it. I've ordered specialty pizzas from here before and know they are $21. So I called and asked to speak to the manager. He told me that they do not have a veggie pizza on the menu but make them by request by specialty order adding $2.50 per topping for 6 veggie toppings. So I pointed out that I got charged $15 on a $16 pizza which he said added up. I asked if he would consider putting a veggie pizza on the menu for a more fair price and I was told he wasn't going to cater to me as a customer just because I want something that's not on the menu. Not sure why because it's a normal pizza option but okay. I tried then explaining that I only got five toppings since I requested no mushrooms so it should have been cheaper. And then I was told that because veggie pizzas are made by request with six toppings (even though off menu), I was still getting charged for six toppings even though I only got five. I then said they should say they have a veggie pizza if they don't have it on the menu or at least explain the pricing if someone orders it and he told me no. I know it's only a $2.50 loss on my part, and I don't really care about being refunded or anything since I won't be returning, but it's the principle. Customer satisfaction should matter more than it...
