This restaurant is an absolutely beautiful place. A lovely patio with fire towers to heat the air and take the bite off the chill on a colder September night. Unfortunately this night was not all wehwe for...
We had a 715 reservation, and while it was a busy Saturday night during the time of Covid, we had to wait for about 20 minutes to get seated. The hostess was lovely and explained that people were lingering longer than expected so that wasn't too big of a deal, a little communication goes a long way.
The bus person brings over some bread and sets it on the table and then scampers off, no butter, no oil, just 3 pieces of bread, most importantly not as word was said. About 5 minutes or so later she does come back and pours some olive oil into a dish. Before she can run away again my wife asks for some salt and pepper for the oil. She acknowledges the request and goes about her duties, another 5 minutes or so later, and multiple passes by the bus person my wife again asks for some salt and pepper, which resulted in an eye roll, but the salt and pepper did come so victory is ours in that end.
Drinks are ordered and they do come in a slower than expected pace, but nothing too unreasonable, but by this time I have finished half my water. Oddly enough my red wine was in a small hurricane glass, no explanation on why it wasn't an actual wine glass. I get it if the dish washer is running and that is all you had at the moment, but please, say something!
wifey gets an appetizer and an entree, I just order an entree. The food takes what feels like a really long time to come, maybe 45 mins? When the food does come The watier does offer to give us fresh cheese on our dishes which is always welcome and a lovely touch. My water is 3/4 of the way done, same original glass.
The food was lovely, very tasty, and while it needed some salt, I prefer needing to add salt than having too much when you get it. Unfortunately nobody came by to check on us to see how we were doing or I don't know, refill the water glasses?
There was a small piece of tin foil from some container in my food, nothing to ruin my meal, just an added element to a poorer than expected dinner. We didn't end up ordering dessert as the person who asked us if we wanted dessert as they were clearing our food dishes didn't seem to know what the menu item chefs special dessert actually was, and the rest of the items seemed mostly ordinary italian fare desserts. So we settled the bill, had an item on the bill for comped salads, no charge, but we never got salads either.
Sadly a lot of the issues I had could have been made better if the staff had more communication with us, apology for a long wait, offer to fill up the water glasses, something!
Anyways, we were disappointed with our experience this time and are not sure to give such a well reviewed place...
Read moreReally excellent restaurant. There were 4 of us (one and a half vegetarians). We did make reservations but there wasn't a line of people waiting either. We sat right away. We got the Tagliatelle, two Squash Lasagnas and a veal dish. Everything was outstanding and everyone cleared their plates. The apps were outstanding as well. The complementary salad was quite enjoyable. Dessert was perfect. Overall the food was flawless. The service was great, there was always someone stopping by with water and ready to get us refills or bringing something to the table, clearing something from the table, and they were all nice. The food came out at a decently slow pace, we were there for 2 1/2 hours but the pace was nice, not rushed, not stuffing food in our faces, comfortably slow. The place is clean. It wasn't cheap but it was quality. I find it hard to find a place as good as this. My only complaint is trivial: The tables are rather small & the dishes are rather large. I have to imagine they know this so it puzzles me why everyone seems to continue to struggle with landing dishes on a crowded table. That did not take away from the experience though so go, enjoy this place. Plan on spending about $60 a head, more if you're all drinking and eating veal. I...
Read moreWe are always raving about how good the food is here all the way home. Our last visit we had the Sfizio Italiano appetizer sampler w/parmigiano, bruschetta, sopressata alpi, roasted red peppers, and mini potato croquettes. The peppers are so sweet like candy. We had muscles with sausage. Delicious sliced sausage and big pieces of garlic in a light marinara. I got chicken parm with homemade rigatoni and it’s always good but this visit I couldn’t stop eating my husbands chicken scarp that was on the special menu. It was with bone in chicken that you could taste was roasted and seasoned perfectly. He had requested it served over rigatoni in the same sauce and he then cut all the chicken off the bone and mixed it in that wonderful sauce. It was a little spicy but so wholesome. We finished as usual with authentic apple strudel with gelato and coffees with baileys on the side. The service is fantastic. A waitress there that wasn’t even our server that night came over to say hello. The owner brought us two small glasses of his lemoncello on the house. The atmosphere is cozy and currently well decorated for the holidays. We had plenty of leftovers that we ate the next day, I already can’t...
