If you're looking for a dining experience that's as charming as it is delicious, look no further than Oaklands Restaurant in Hampton Bays! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty by Tom, the ever-attentive manager, and his impeccable staff. Their warmth and professionalism added a personal touch to an already perfect evening.
Let's start with the ambiance--stunning doesn't even begin to cover it! Nestled right on the water, Oaklands offers an unbeatable view of the boats gently swaying in the harbor. Time it right, and you'll be treated to a sunset that could make even the most dedicated beach bum reconsider their favorite spot.
Now, onto the food! I had the Halibut Bok Choy special, and while I initially expected a bit of a spicy kick, I was pleasantly surprised by its subtlety. The dish was innovative, balancing flavors beautifully without overpowering the delicate halibut. It was a delightful surprise--truly a culinary masterpiece.
And let's not forget the kale and beet salad! This dish was a symphony of textures and flavors, with the earthy sweetness of the beets perfectly complementing the crisp kale. It's not often you find a salad that can stand out, but this one absolutely does.
To top it all off, Tom and his team offered samples of Grand Marnier, which added a luxurious touch to the meal. It was the perfect way to end the evening, leaving us feeling utterly spoiled and eager to return.
If you're in Hampton Bays, make sure Oaklands is at the top of your list. Between the divine food, top-notch service, and that breathtaking view, it's a dining experience you'll treasure. Can't...
Read moreIf you get there at 5pm, you CAN'T get a seat on the wrap around deck because it's 'inbetween time' on a Sunday night!?!???? So I found a circular hightop table for 6 - (grabbed some more chairs), around the bar area........ No waitress - you have to order up at the bar, which is always crowded, so waiting for a bartender to order is difficult......... Nice man at the bar had the barback carry my drinks to the table - very helpful - and we ordered 2 appetizers which are delivered to table by the waistaff - woohoo! Finally some table service! $16 🍸 drinks and skimpy appys - I was digging for my tuna tartar with chips - plate was mostly chips! Order the BBQ rib sliders - worth it......... $75 for 2 drinks and 2 Appy's! Wow! Welcome to the Hamptons! But then the band came on and the view of the Marina was great while the cocktails kicked in with a nice breeze off the bay.......... I think Covid has changed everything with service at restaurants very limited and new rules, ('inbetween time')......... I understand the limitations, but along with that should come reduced prices, but it seems restaurants are making up for lost time during Covid by raising prices now and with limited service......... Coming from a restaurant background, it just ruins some of the experience......... But once again, you're in the Hamptons,...
Read moreLast night We arrived at Oaklands at 6:48 PM and were quoted a 30-minute wait for an indoor table and a 60-minute wait for outdoor seating. I specifically asked the hostess to put us down for an outdoor table and said we were happy to wait the hour. At 7:47 PM, we received a text that our table was ready. However, the hostess led us to an indoor table. I reminded her that we had requested to sit outside, and she simply said, “I don’t have a table for you outside.” When I explained that we had waited the full 60 minutes specifically for outdoor seating, she replied, “Unfortunately we can’t change your table, you can sit here, find a seat at the bar or we can put you back at the bottom of the list” We were frustrated, especially since we walked outside and saw at least 6–7 open tables. Instead of making a big deal, we ordered drinks from the outside bar, enjoyed the sunset, and eventually ate at the main bar. Despite the poor handling at the host stand, I have to say the food was very good, and the view is beautiful. It’s unfortunate the service at the front didn’t match the quality of the kitchen or the setting. Hopefully they improve their communication and customer care, because the experience could have been so...
