copying my review from beeradvocate: Passed through the area while on my way north for a weekend vacation. Knew I had about 30 minutes to kill in the area while I waited to pick someone up from the train station. Did some quick googling to find a craft distributor, and came upon Beer Time. So I stopped in, wandered around a bit, then got to talking with the owner/part owner, I believe? I forgot his name (sorry). Great guy, also knows his stuff.
I asked him for some recommendations, and that I wanted to pick up some hard-to-find beers. He showed me around the shop, told me his plan to make the place 2-3x bigger than it already is. Pulled some rare bottles off the shelves in back. Gave me a great deal on a case of Collective Project: IPA No. 3. Basically a deal I couldn't turn down. Then also got me some marked down bottles. All stuff I've never had before.
Walked out with: Founders KBS Founders CBS Collective Project IPA No. 3 Left Hand Extrovert IPA Ballast Point Victory at Sea - Peppermint Ballast Point Victory At Sea Imperial Porter with Coffee & Vanilla Speakeasy Ales & Lagers Payback Coffee Porter
Unfortunately I'm not local to the area, because this place blows my local stores out of the water. Only about 45 minutes away, so I'll be making a trip back, but not as frequently as I would like. Check this place out if you...
Read moreThe staff is good here; they're knowledgeable, but not pretentious about it. Great selection of craft brews, and regular beer too. There's even a hidden cold section(the cave) that's beyond the wooden door. I ventured back there one day, it was a Tuesday as I recall, and I had a craving for some chilled craft beers. Time passes by you when you're in the cave. It's hard to tell the hours are passing, as there's no natural lighting. Just you, some moody lighting, a chill, and the passing through of a friendly stranger every so often. After, what I had assumed was around 30 minutes, I emerged with quite the haul. Little did I know that it had been 3 weeks since anyone had seen me. So just be careful when...
Read moreGuy that owns it is super nice. Beer selection is seriously lacking. In addition to that, there is plenty of cold storage space for the beers that are being kept warm. On behalf of all beer consumers, yuck. I would go lower but he let me use the employee restroom. I think homie can get it together with some effort and make this the 5 star establishment people might expect with the ratings. But for now, idk if this passes for a good place to buy beer in NY but I would wager that going over the border...
