We had the worst experience at the Red Rooster last night, for what was supposed to have been a wonderful birthday celebration. We have dined here for MANY years and have always loved it, however last night was a disgrace on many levels. Our waitress was lovely, but completely overworkedâŠhandling too many tables, which compromised our service greatly. The food was honestly terrible. My rack of lamb, that I ordered medium rare, came medium well and was quite dry, with sides I did not ask for. It was honestly the WORST lamb Iâve ever had. The sauce on the duck was absolutely incongruent to the flavors of duck. Terrible combination. And all dishes were over salted. When we werenât getting our table cleared for quite a long time, we had to go to the bar to ask for our check. Then when no one came to get payment we went up to the bar again to pay and pick up the cake we had decided to bring home instead of celebrating there. The owner saw this and couldnât have cared lessâŠ.which was rather off putting. We shared other issues with our meal and were stunned by her attitude. I had spent over $300 for our meal! She was completely unapologetic and dismissive. Stupidly on her part, it could have all ended on a positive note, if she had simply been gracious but instead, she doubled down, taking NO responsibility and it escalated to an ugly level. Such a disgrace that business owners could behave as they had.. especially when the meal and service was truly bad that evening. So that was itâŠ.the very last time any of us will ever eat there again. I recommend you save your moneyâŠthere are many FAR BETTER restaurants on the North ForkâŠthat have respectful owners who actually care about their customersâ experience, have talented chefs, and actually want to have customers...
Read moreOut east in Cutchogue, NY at Zuhoski Farms, we thought we found the gem we were looking for in a Christmas tree that had the right shape and size. Happy with our find, we never gave much serious thought to what we're having for dinner. Yelp conveniently listed Red Rooster Bistro - a mere 1.5 miles away. Sitting just off a country road flanked by vast tracts of farmland, it immediately gave us - a huddled mass of hungry and freezing tree hunters - the impression that we were about to have a warm, wonderful dining experience in a rustic setting that only such an isolated location can provide. And quite the impression did Red Rooster Bistro make! The ambiance mesmerized us as the place was filled with the most impressive rooster-themed decor one person has the capacity to absorb. After taking in the setting, we finally got down to having dinner. We started off with freshly baked rolls. For appetizers, we had mussels in cream sauce and burrata with toasted garlic bread. Although the burrata was just like any other, the mussels were uniquely delicious. The menu was somewhat limited and on a Sunday evening included just one special. Having said all that, each entree was terrific. Pasta dishes from spaghetti bolognese to shrimp tagliatelle were all on point. Duck confit and beef bourguignon entrees added the flair of French cuisine. Plating, appearance and portions left nothing to be desired. Food came out hot, quite quickly and all at the same time. The attentive waitstaff capped a wondrous evening. It was a rare restaurant that hit all the right notes. I know I will be back at Red Rooster well before it's time to cut down...
Read moreI would give them no star if possible. Have been coming here for years as we live in Orient. Tonight had the worse experience thanks to an owner that has no control over her own establishment. Made a reservation with my daughter for dinner. We were seated in the middle room. Soon a group of 20 year olds were seated in the same room. They became rude, loud and obnoxious and the entire restaurant soon enough was aggravated. When I asked the table to please be quiet I was verbally attacked. The waitress went up to the owner letting her know what was happening and instead of her handling the situation she walked away. My daughter also approached the owner and she did absolutely nothing. In order to avoid a scene we left while the group continued to make rude comments. Owner went into hiding. I called the owner later in the evening to discuss what happened and her only comment was that she cant control everyone in her restaurant. There is no excuse for the owner's inability to control her establishment. As stated, have been coming here for years both summer and winter. Will not return and urge others to avoid. As a patron I should not have to address other patrons of their bad behavior. That is the exclusive responsibility of management. This would never happen in a professional restaurant. Even a good meal doesn't compensate for a...
