For the past two years, we have been generously given a significant amount of frozen, vacuum-packed beef from Prem Meats as a Christmas gift. Our portion each year has been something like 50lbs so, naturally, a lot of it has to be frozen long term.
Last year (2020), we were disappointed to notice that a very large percentage of the "vacuum" packages were either breached, poorly sealed, or just not evacuated, which quickly led to freezer burn. I requested the fat back. Picked up our order, no fat. I called, they directed me to the on-site butcher service, who took 2 days to get back to me. Apparently, there was literally no fat on half of the cow, so that was disappointing and somewhat hard to believe. But that is not the butcher shops fault specifically.
Although more communication of even a note on the cut sheet would have been nice. They also didn't label what the heart/liver/oxtail packages are, so I'm having to sort that out as well.
After writing the review, they did call the clarify the fat situation, so they are at least prompt in discussing a situation if you post...
