Wow!! We are so glad we stopped here. We didn't know what to expect, we were just hungry. It's a Chipotle style type of restaurant where you order at a counter and then sit with your food. When we walked in it was easy to see where to order. The menu is straight forward and the employees were all smiling and helpful! We have four little kids and we were able to order a giant quesadilla to split between them. They loved it. It is very reasonably priced and you get a lot of food! The burrito bowl I had was perfectly delicious and my husband and I thought the burrito was huge and also tasty. We thought it was very clean and you can see that all of the food is made fresh because you can watch them make it from the ordering counter. The seating area is spacious and there are a lot of booths and tables to choose from. The decorations were interesting and tasteful. Even the bathrooms were large and very very clean. As you walk to the bathroom you can see the inside of the kitchen and that was also spick and span. It is a kid friendly restaurant even though there isn't a specific kid menu. They have high chairs and a changing table in the bathroom. We had no complaints. I can't believe we haven't been here before but you bet we will be back! Way to...
Read moreTL;DR: Don't pass by this Chipotle-style Mexican casual dining spot on your way to the falls/lake.
Came here on a Friday for dinner with the fam. Ordered a steak burrito, wife had the taco salad, and kids had ground beef tacos. Luckily, we came early, since the line behind us got long quickly...and for a good reason. Poco Loco is top tier fast casual Mexican food.
Outside of the tortillas, everything is homemade, fresh, in store, and you can really taste the difference between Poco Loco and chain restaurants. The steak burrito was huge (like the size of my arm) and dripping with flavor. Perfectly seasoned meat and beans topped with fresh, bright salsas. My only nitpick here was the "hot" salsa was more like medium. I added a side of queso and guac with chips, maybe the best I've ever had...and that's not hyperbole. So good.
My wife's taco salad "bowl" (the shell) was so light and crisp, I've never tasted anything like it. It was perfect. Usually those shells are oily and pretty much decorative.
Service was excellent and the vibe here is really laid back. Lots of room/tables for seating 4-40.
I'm so glad we found this spot, cause now our trips to the lake will definitely include a stop...
Read moreThe short review, knock off Chipotle, with no idea how to really make a chimichanga. Always expect a soggy burrito and dry rice, the turnover is too high to get consistency, you will never see the same person for more than a few months. I guess the owner has more important things to tend to instead of quality assurance.
I use to go here once or twice a week then, I got the worst food poisoning of my life here, I lost 14 lbs in 3 days. The barbacoa tasted sour but I assumed it was the pico. Well at least I never have to go back.
One more thing, the layout of the store is a mess, definitely not done by an actual designer. All that unutilized open space when you walk in, no que up area for a line to form, I would call the theme of the interior design sheet metal craft fair with street art elements.
So, in short. If you are in the area you might want to skip out on this underwhelming stop, but at the same time. What should you expect from a restaurant that shares it's building with a off the back of a truck/ warehouse pallet purchase...
