My wife and i had previously been here 5 years to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We were once again in the area for another wedding and it was over our anniversary weekend, also close to my parents who would be along with us. We called and made reservations weeks in advance. We arrived right at 1858 and were seated. We then sat there at our for another 13 minutes before the hostess came over to inform us they were short staffed tonight. We put it our drink orders and requested some water. The drinks and water came about 17 minutes later, we were over 30 mins into our reservation without even getting to put in appetizers. The most shocking thing was there was a blonde server, she spent at least 15 minutes staring at the POS system like she was study for a final exam. When she did move into the dining room she refused to look at any other table other than her own 15 top in the corner. No one else existed in this dining room, where there were a mere 5 tables all smaller than 4 tops. The wine was delivered incorrectly, they forgot a bottle and our ordering was painful. We needed water several times, i think our record was 5 requests before we got it. This u is very far from cheap, and yet not a single effort was made to compensate for the fact that we would be paying premium price for nonexistent service. The chef was running around the most, which was the only employee to show any semblence of hustle. Im not saying everyone had to be running around but to in general move as if they had a sense of purpose on this earth. The only actual server was a complete embarassment, I mastered the art of serving at 14 years old as a high school freshman, my wife was a junior. It is not difficult and requires very little training or education. The effort to multi-task was non-existent. Our meal concluded, the food was ok and they messed up our bill several times. Dessert was not offered, because we already passed their closing time because dinner took so long. My wife and I would have rather they called us and cancelled our reservation rather than drive 30 mins down the lake to have the worst...
Read moreOverall this is a really nice dining spot if you are visiting the inn. The convenience of being able to walk right back to our rooms after a long day of wine tasting was awesome. The view overlooking the vineyard was great and the wait staff were nice.
The pre-dinner cocktails were ok. The meals came with a tasty corn relish amuse bouche which was a nice little surprise. The bread was served warm from the oven and was accompanied with a trio of homemade spreads, which included a delish basil pesto and a chive butter. We tried the charcuterie board which was quite good. In addition to some interesting meats and crackers, it came with a few sliced strawberries, fresh red seedless grapes, tart dried cherries, and sweet golden raisins. The presentation was especially nice.
The pappardelle exceeded my expectations. It had a very cozy and comforting feel to it with flavors that were reminiscent of the best pork roast I've ever had. As one of the cheaper entrees, I didn't feel shortchanged at all and felt the portion of meat was great. I would reorder this and would love to have it in the fall with a complimentary glass of wine or hard apple cider.
My boyfriend ordered the filet mignon, and it was definitely cooked to order properly and tender. He wasn't completely blown away by the dish though...feeling that it didn't really stack up to some other steak dinners he has had in the past. He did think the creative veggie and potato side worked very well together.
We ended the meal with a bite of homemade dark chocolate and coconut bark and a complimentary champagne toast for...
Read moreWe were so looking forward to the Easter buffet-1st visit here; saw the menu online-looked great-very disappointed especially for $42.95/person. The vegetables very very undercooked-extremely crunchy, the three potato hash was tasteless (not enough seasoning), the honey nut carrots were just “okay,” the vegetable stuffed sole was the biggest disappointment: a tiny piece of sole wrapped around the same uncooked vegetables that were also served as a side dish. I thought a “stuffed sole” would be stuffed with a breadcrumb-like filling like any stuffed seafood-lobster tails, crab cakes, etc., but these were just wrapped around those crunchy vegetables, and to top it all off, they were lukewarm. We left it on our plates. The ham was good, but the carver offered me pineapple sauce, which I informed her I was allergic to (.told the hostess that when I made reservations). The dessert was also a disappointment. The banana pudding/custard tasted artificial like it came out of a jello mix, and the carrot cake truffles were raw-like eating raw cake dough. The only thing we enjoyed (besides the view) was the broccoli Mac and cheese, but for $42.95 a person, that is an expensive Mac and cheese! Seemed like it was done by a poor catering company or maybe they just need a new chef. Also-a lot of the time, the employees (mainly the girls), we’re just standing around gossiping, just staring at everyone,...
