This is on my top 5 of all time restaurants. We had breakfast there, the staff (all young people 20 or less) were the hardest working friendliest crew I have seen. They were as good or better then most high end restaurants. The food was delicious, Service was better than 99% of any business. They prices were very reasonable .

We absolutely love this place. If you are camping in the area, you must stop and grab breakfast. Excellent food. Incredible and accommodating staff. Outdoor seating. Good coffee. Our kids are picky eaters, but the homefries were loved by everyone (even if we can't stop to eat, we grab homefries and coffee to go!)

This is the best place to get a good southern style breakfast with a bit of northern flare. Only place I can find grits in this area, too. Hands down the best sausage gravy in Central New York. The owners are incredibly friendly, and will often greet you as they cook or serve coffee.

Amazing coffee. Really really good. Only issue was we waited 7ish minutes to make our take-out order; when it was finally our turn, we made our order, paid, then found out after paying that coffee was out and had to wait 10 minutes for them to brew it (but was more like 15-20). They poured half a coffee into a cup to brew then 15-20 minutes later topped it up with the new coffee - wasn't happy with that and asked them to pour me another cup. We also ordered 2 bagels to go but they couldn't make it until the kitchen made the seated people their full meals; all this should be indicated before ordering. Quick stop on the way out of Fair Haven Beach State Park for coffee and bagels turned into a half hour thing... Don't come here if you're in a rush lol.

Very cute shop with lots of knick knacks and Fair Haven swag. Wish we knew of this place while we were camping as we wouldn't have been in a rush to leave and could've enjoyed it a bit more. Dining in seems to be the way to go here.

Definitely need to advertise with the camp ground so people know you're there. Only reason I found it was because I googled coffee when...

I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant in my entire life. I walked in well within their hours of operation all the way up to the counter and was not greeted once by the owner or five waitresses he had working at the time. After my significant other was done using the restroom, we picked a table and waited a few more minutes and he spotted the menus and went and got them for us. After several minutes of debating what we wanted to eat we were left looking around for service and found none. Several of the waitresses looked our way said nothing and went back to their duties. Finally, hungry and sick of being a voided like a set of lepers we went to the counter to place our order where we told by the owner to sit down and our order would be taken. We refused this premise and asked again to place our order and the owner had a waitress who would barely look at us take our order. Food took 15 minutes, salad was tiny for $7 and he got over easy instead of scrambled. Won't go back...

Very unfortunate what this restaurant has turned into. Beautiful restaurant on Main Street that has a lot of potential. I never want to blame the young staff, poor service starts with the owners. This morning I was one of two tables in the restaurant. It was not a busy morning. My breakfast took almost an hour to come out. I asked for a sausage egg and cheese sandwich. It came out without an egg. And when I asked for an egg I was treated with disrespect. My coffee wasn’t filled, my table wasn’t cleared. Again not complaining about the staff they just need training. The owners clearly need to put more effort into managing this restaurant so that people can enjoy it. We have been to the Hardware Cafe countless times and it has been a poor experience every time, but for some reason we want to go back thinking it will change. It seems to have progressively gotten worse… something...
