Ok so I will start at the beginning. My husband, two kids, and I drove an hour and a half away from where we currently live to our hometown to visit our family and have dinner with them. They suggested we go to Inka Terra so we did. We got there and were seated outside immediately since there was only one other table occupied. We had 4 kids with us (ages 8-17) so they played some corn hole then sat down when it was time to order drinks. But to get anyone to even address our table took over 10 minutes. Then, after our drinks were ordered, it took at least 15 minutes to get them and by that time, there were kids occupying the games, which occupied it for the whole 3.5+ hours we were there so our kids couldn’t even play there anymore. It then took about 25-30 minutes for the waitress to come to our table. She took our order and that was the last time we saw her. Not a single time after that did she check on us or bother to refill drinks or anything. While we waited, the kids that were playing, were incredibly loud, spitting on the turf, climbing the walls, and cursing up a storm. Rather than playing corn hole, they started throwing the hard beanbags, which at one point hit my nephew in the back so of course we said something to them. The whole time we kept saying “Where are their parents!?” Not only that, they were running around behind where we were sitting playing tag and didn’t care that we were sitting right there. These kids were at least 10-12 years old. Now on to the food, apparently they had some callouts, which we had no idea. Not once did ANYONE address us to tell us that they were running behind. Not the waitress and not any of the owners. Instead we waited over an hour for food. My daughter ordered a simple side order of rice and beans and they couldn’t even bring that out. I had my husband call and place a takeout order to get that for her but when he went up to do that, the rice and beans were suddenly ready. When the food came out for the one table sitting behind us, the owner had the audacity to tell us that we’d have to wait another 20 minutes for our food. Not once did he offer to give us anything to hold us off in the meantime or anything. Our kids were starving and visibly upset and our drinks were empty. When I told him how unprofessional it was that no one had addressed us or come to check on us, he took no accountability and acted like I had no business being upset. I’ve never been anywhere where I had to wait close to an hour and a half for food. Additionally, if there are issues, you take accountability and address them and find a way to make it right. His way of trying to make it right was by trying to give everyone shots when it was time to pay of course. They were so quick to add the tip to our checks too. When he tried calling everyone over to speak, he then proceeded to tell us that all the kids running around and taking over the games, were his kids. I did not like his demeanor or the way he lacked any self awareness or professionalism. Then before we left, he tried to act personable as if he knew me. Although I am from that town, I’ve never met him but he tried acting like he knew me and asked me “How are your parents?” to which is responded with “Well my mom unfortunately passed away a few years ago and my dad lives in Puerto Rico from back when he abandoned us.” I will pay a lot of money for good food and a good experience; and I have. I don’t know who priced their food because the food and the portions do not match their prices. They are way overpriced. Needless to say, I will never be going back there again. Update: My family members did not know I had left a review at all and were not involved in my opinion. Rather than the owner address me directly, he decided to contact family members and involve them. Now I’m even more upset that he would involve family that had absolutely nothing to do with this. Another example his...
Read moreI really did not want to have to leave such a bad review of this place. But after multiple negative experiences surrounding the service provided at this establishment, I feel as though I had no other choice.
On the positive side of things, the food and drinks at Inka Terra are really good and the prices are reasonable. I've been living in Stony Point for the last few years, after relocating from Yonkers, and was in dire need of finding a restaurant that provided delicious Peruvian food. The food options here in Stony Point are so limited that I often times have to go back to Westchester for dining with my family. So, when I stumbled upon Inka Terra and visited for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised. The first dining experience was relatively positive from a service perspective.
However, since that 1st experience I have dined in at the restaurant a handful of times, used Door Dash two times, and placed an order to be picked up once. Can I tell you that no matter which option, the service here is slowwwwwwwww! At first I thought it was a random occurrence, but each time I have tried to give this place a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chance, their slow service has been the exact same. For example, the last time I visited and dined in was about a month ago. I ordered the Lomo saltado and my kids ordered the fried egg with rice and beans. As usual , the rice and beans came out extremely quick but my meal took close to 45 to arrive. I thought about walking out as I was starving. It took so long that a random waitress came to me and asked if I was ready for dessert?!?! LMAO...I told her, "Dessert?!, I haven't received my dinner yet!"
Each of the approximately 3 or 4 times I dined in with my family, we waited a ridiculously long time to receive the main entrees for the adults. Just recently, like a glutton for punishment, I had a taste for Peruvian chicken so I used Door Dash, placed the order, and then received an email from Door Dash saying Inka Terra cancelled my order because they were able to fulfill it. That's all I was told. Meanwhile, I ordered that food for my young children and myself and ended up having to find another alternative already past their dinnertime of 7p.
Let me reiterate that the staff is super nice and the ambience is cool. But if you are looking for a place where you will get your food in a timely manner and not be staring at other guests food while your stomach growls, this is NOT THE PLACE. However, if you are not going there to eat, or are not that hungry, want a nice drink, and can afford to wait 45 min to an hour for your entree regardless of how slow or busy they are, by all means this is your place. I am not someone who ever leaves reviews, good or bad, but this was the last straw and I really needed to vent. I hope they get this together because it is a shame such a nice place and very local is providing such...
