The Lily Pad Lake Koshkonong — Restaurant in Town of Sumner

We went for the fish fry. My wife and I had the baked cod. The cod was great and I loved the way they prepared it. It had almost like a wood fired taste to it. Whatever it was, it was really good. It was light and flakey and didn't even need salt, butter or lemon. We tried their infused vodka in our spicey bloody marys and they too were quite good.

It was very busy when we arrived. We had a reservation for our party of six indoors but there was a slight mix up and another party got our table. They offered to have us sit in one of their clear plastic domes out on the deck which turned out to be really nice and cozy. They have heaters, padded seats and blankets available.

They were very gracious hosts and even provided our first round of drinks on the house due to the mix up and the additional wait time.

The staff were all friendly and personable. They were down a waitress but regardless they did a good job of keeping up. Our waitress, Kate I believe her name was, did a great job of taking care of us and had a fun, light hearted personality.

I went for the first time because my Oldest Son was one of the line cooks tonight & it was Friday Fish Fry. I brought the whole Family. We had great service. We came while it was somewhat early. Started inside but it is to loud for conversations, so we moved outside. The place is nice. Servers are absolutely attentive & wonderful. We had five fish fry dinners. One cod, one perch & three blue gill. Of five fish dinners only one was slightly fishy. Which if you have cooked at home. Fresh fish or frozen fish, it can happen to anyone. Everyone was really happy, had a great time and will definitely pop in again. Their appetizers are perfect. If you want a nice sit by the fire and chat with friends. Their outdoor dining, appetizers and drinks would be the perfect calm evening. The place was busy, yet calm. You need to try the cheese curds & mozzarella sticks if you eat that type of food. They are just starting out so expect a little disfunction or maybe your meat isn't cooked exactly at a medium or the desired temp. Give this place some time to get the right functions in the kitchen "not that it was bad" and they will be the next big thing. As a community "Fort, Cambridge, Jefferson, WW, etc... Give this place your business. THE T-BONE STEAK IS AND WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD I WILL BE COMING BACK AND BRINGING FAMILY! The T-bone was little undercooked for a medium but it was so juicey and tender! Plus the old fashions are to die for! Will recommend the outpost to anyone any day of the week. As a community I recommend we give this place our time and money to help grow to what The Outpost Deserves!
