We visit the area for one week every year. We don’t expect a lot from the restaurants, but we come for Lake George, not fine dining. Most places are unpretentious, have low prices, and serve decent, if unexceptional food. This place replaces Emeralds, which burned down a few years ago. The folks that ran the dining concession at the golf course reestablished themselves just down the road, when they took over an existing restaurant and called it Emeralds II. Same decent, reasonably priced food. Now, enter Seymour’s on a newly reconstructed clubhouse st the golf course. I had high hopes when I looked at the menu, but we were disappointed with our meal here. They are charging Saratoga restaurant prices, but not delivering the quality found in Saratoga Springs. While not a fan of charging for bread, I am not against it provided the bread is exceptional. Here,$7 gets you a few measly pieces of bread that would barely satisfy if it were free. Two flavored butters served in glass jars were supposed to justify the price, but were hard as rock, having just emerged from the fridge. French onion soup was just okay, and the portion was small; not worth the $10 price. A shrimp and grits appetizer came Luke warm and the shrimp was slightly undercooked, which is pretty hard to do. Short ribs was inferior to what I’ve eaten dozens of times while paying less money. Pasta dish also underwhelmed. I may well return (the setting is beautiful) but will limit myself to a burger at the bar. Scratch that, I will go just up the road to...
Read moreI would like to personally thank the hostess Nadine, we were in town visiting Fort Ticonderoga with our children age 14, 13 &11. We went to two different restaurants and being turned away once due to the restaurant having only adult casual dining which was not posted anywhere online or their website only on a chalkboard out side the entry door and another in the village of Ticonderoga that stated they were the owner and her day off so she was closing when we arrived. We walked into Seymour's and Nadine kindly explained that they were a tad busy and they had live band so their terrace was full, then she came up with a plan instead of turning away business she checked with her waitstaff and set the 5 of us up in the lower bar area along with another out of town couple. The wait for our food was a bit but as a former restaurant GM I completely understand and was just obliged she didn't turn us away she accommodated my family along with the other couple with whom we shared great conversation and our children enjoyed the live music. Thank you Nadine for being quick on your feet and making a choice to serve not only us but the couple behind us ....the food and drinks were very tasty and the ambiance along with the customer service even when busy was truly wonderful ❤️we...
Read moreHad the very distinct pleasure of having dinner there while my husband and I was on our honeymoon. Absolutely FANTASTIC experience! We were extremely casually dressed (jeans and hoodies) yet every minute was exquisite. The staff was awesome and very personable and the food was criminally delicious! I'd swear they have a team of Michelin chefs behind closed doors. My husband ordered us the pretzels with pub cheese for our appetizer. The order arrived with 2 huge, warm pretzels that were as big as my husband hand. They were warm and just the right amount of salty. The cheese they came with was warm and gooey goodness. Our entrees were even more delicious. My husband ordered the Short rib dinner ...the ribs were fall apart tender and I had the 16oz rib eye that was cooked beautifully and tender enough to cut with my fork. This was the only sit down style meal we had on our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect. Even the view was spectacular. We are absolutely going to plan on stopping by again next year for our...
