Bottom Line Up Front: Dont like the way the new ownership is dealing with customers or business.

This place has been a staple in the upstate community for a while. It has changed owners prior to this season. We hadn’t been down since they had opened under new ownership, so we called to verify the hours, it was still cash only and that they had food. We were told yes they had food, it was still cash only and they didn't close until 9:30. I called around 8:40, ish, said we’d be down for a burger shortly. We stopped at Bailey's (Northway) to grab the cash and head down. We got there at 9:06.

The sign with the food is gone. Now there are laminated menus in little holders like the real estate agents use. Hopefully, those get cleaned regularly. I mean standing in line reading a big menu worked for the last 10 years for us. But, hey, okay.

The windows were all closed. When we approached, a lady opened the window and said they were closed. I pointed at the lit sign on their building, stating I thought they closed at 9:30? Yeah, food stops at 9, and ice cream is open until 9:30.

I had just had a conversation with them. They could have mentioned the kitchen closes at 9. I'm disappointed. We live up here year round, and look forward to this place opening every year. We have all our visitors meet us there, grab a bite and a treat before bringing them up into the middle of nowhere where cell reception, GPS, is spotty if it exists.

I have referred this place to many people. We use to stop for a snack or treat or food at least 3 times a week in the summer. I don't think I will be going back. It might be the hunger talking, but I feel like I was given a middle finger on...

My husband and I were super excited to finally make it to Ward's for an ice cream treat with our son...baby WARD! Our son's name is Ward Michael and when we heard of Ward's ice cream, you better believe we knew we had to take him for his first ice cream at Ward's Drive-In! We just finished our tenting adventure in the ADK and as we were heading home, stopped for an ice cream treat and fun! I loved my Raspberry truffle ice cream and my husband loved his strawberry Boston shake and Baby Ward loved BOTH! We were very excited to find out that the Ward's Drive In t-shirts were for sale too...so of course we bought some! And we were extremely grateful for the owner to offer to take a family picture of us by their sign! Ward's Drive-In was a great way to end our family trip and we will definitely stop next time we are in the area! We loved the feel, oldies music, kind staff and owner and of course...
