Went in with a group of 10-15 women for dinner yesterday at around 6pm. It was not overly busy and there were multiple servers on the floor, yet our server took over 10 minutes (closer to 20 minutes) to greet newcomers to the table, and to ask for drinks. Once drinks were ordered (glass of wine, two sodas, and waters for the table) it took another 15 minutes and a gentle reminder to receive the drinks.
I want to preface I work in the restaurant industry as do other members of my party, and we rarely feel compelled to leave a negative review as we know how difficult it can be.
I have a gluten allergy, and we asked the server if one of the appetizer dishes contained gluten. He told us he would ask the kitchen once we all rang in our orders. 10+ minutes later he returns with the first round of drinks, and no information about the dish. Therefore I asked, "did you find out about the gluten allergy" and he replied with "oh no I didn't ask". Red flag.
Once our entrees arrived, they were served in a SERIOUSLY staggered fashion. 3 meals come out. 10 minutes later another 3. 10 minutes later another 3, and so on until the last 3 dishes never made it to the table. Those last 3 dishes you may ask? SALADS. One salad was dropped off, however completely messed up as it was ordered "no onions or tomatoes, add egg and cheese". The salad had onions, tomatoes and NO EGG OR CHEESE. When the server was informed of the mistake he looked at the girl who ordered it and said "we don't have egg right now". Well that would've been great to know when the salads were ordered or shortly after that. Not 40 minutes - an hour later once the food is being dropped off. Anyways, the salads finally arrived after everyone else was done eating and basically ready to leave. One of the first three dishes to be dropped off (chicken and rice) was delivered ice cold. We asked to have the dish remade/ warmed up and once it returned it was 30 minutes later.
Our salads were dropped off without salad dresssing. So we sat for 20 minutes with no dressing and had to remind our server 3+ times about the dressing until he finally returned with some as he kept forgetting we didn't have any and therefore forgot what we needed.
Overall, he was constantly MIA, had a HUGE lack of knowledge on anything regarding the restaurant, we were constantly waiting 10+ minutes to order anything, have any questions answered, receive water, etc. our stay at Jammers was a 3 hour experience when it really did not need to be nearly that much. ESPECIALLY SINCE IT WAS NOT BUSY.
So obviously at this point none of us were happy with the service we were being given, however the real problem was once we were dropped our checks. Please remember I am in the restaurant and bar industry and am ALL FOR TIPPING STAFF FOR THEIR SERVICES!!!! After the terrible service we were given our checks contained a 20% gratuity charge. I have worked in 5 restaurants that also add gratuity for large parties, however it was ALWAYS stated on the menu / told to the table by the staff before being handed the bill. Nowhere on the menu did it state that any charge for large parties existed, nor did our server inform of us such a charge. Furthermore, I've never once seen a restaurant, let alone a mediocre sports bar charge anything more than 18%. To be honest it felt like a slap in the face since this was EXCEPTIONALLY terrible service.
It was clear our server knew from the jump he was going to be making at least $70 off of our table alone and decided to completely disregard us. It felt calculated and wrong and if we didn't want to leave the establishment as soon as humanly possible we would've asked to speak to management.
I will say I do not think this is a problem with the restaurant as a whole, I think our server just does not have pride and/ or enough capability, knowledge, or respect to properly provide a group of women with a...
Read moreFriends and I came together very last minute and decided that chicken wings were the vibe, after tossing around a few options, we finally decided on Jammer’s since the majority of us have never been. We arrived w/out reservations and we’re seated rather quickly - we had the option of sitting outside to enjoy the live band, but chose a booth to spoil ourselves in the a/c.
After about a 20-minute wait, we flagged down a staff member and asked if we could have some waters. She was friendly enough and apologized and said our waitress would be with us shortly. 5 minutes later, our waitress finally arrived. She took our order we each selected bone-in wings w/ different flavors, chicken wing dog for appetizers, and beer on draft - I, however, was inclined to try their “signature strawberry margarita” based on our waitress recommendation. Drafts came roughly 10 minutes later followed by our appetizers. My margarita followed another few minutes later, and upon presentation alone, I was startled. It was served in a pint glass. The margarita wasn’t garnished w/ any dressings, however the bottom of the pint glass had chunks of strawberry that made difficult for drinking through a straw. Eventually I gave up and graduated to a diet soda.
Alas, our wings arrived 50 minutes from the time we arrived to the booth, luckily we were in good company amongst ourselves to pass the time. We had asked for extra napkins and silverware, to which our waitress promptly ran over and unloaded a handful of silverware and black cloths. She apologized and said they were normally rolled before hand but she didn’t have the time. It wasn’t a big deal, but it was worth noticing.
The wings were great, to be quite honest. Worth the wait? Probably not. We had the mango habanero, garlic parm, Jamaican jerky, and the classic mild. Would have preferred more drums to wings, but that’s just a personal preference from my order.
All-in-all, I would give them another go after some time. The night didn’t seem particularly busy and our waitress was friendly enough, however, the wait time bordered on ridiculous. We tipped graciously and got to know our waitress through playful banter on our way out.
Pros: wings Con: 50 minute wait before food arrived on top of...
Read moreAs a long time manager and bartender of a 300 plus fine dining and banquet style restaurant I hate to leave negative reviews. In fact, this is my first public one. We attended Jammers with a large group in their party room. We had called ahead of time and they asked if we preferred buffet or off the menu. The organizer said off the menu. At that point I would personally continue to let them know that with large groups we only do one check, especially when they knew the type of group that we would be, lots of individual families. So when we arrived and were told we couldn’t do separate checks many people were upset within the group. Me personally, do I think they could have figured it out and made it work, yes. Do I also understand because I do this for a living, also yes. So we figured it out and agreed to the one check and said we would figure it out. Everyone in our group was polite about it. The manager was very annoyed with us and did not hide it. He visibly talked about us to the other staff members and told his bartenders to not serve us and that we had to order the drinks in the room as well. That was never told to us so many of us stood at the bar to order alcoholic beverages without ever getting eye contact. The bartenders were very slow and zero urgency. What a shame for them, due to the situation I would have overtipped as I get that it isn’t their call. As for the servers, they were fantastic! The food was also great and came out fast and hot. The management and the way he handled everything was super disappointing and made it uncomfortable for all. Beautiful place with loads...
