So, I was in this morning for my usual, HEC no egg. Got the bill and it went up $2. Okay. Normally I'd pay with a $10. $6.xx to the owner/sandwich and $3.XX tip for the lady who took my order. I was settling up and thought to myself "$12 for a breakfast sandwich? Nope." I still paid my $10. Who lost money on that deal? The woman who comes in everyday to run your business and allow you to not be there to make even more money. Let's be honest. You raised the prices so what goes in your pocket doesn't change but the people making your money will make less all while earning $6.25/hr. I'm closer to another diner and their sandwichs are under $5 but their servers are scabby. Your sandwich is great and so are your employees. What's gonna happen now? The economy is getting worse and luxuries are going to slow down. I work in a luxury driven business and i already see the slow down. I'm not buying an $8.XX and leaving a $3.XX tip for a breakfast sandwich. I'm also not going to get one and leave a $1.27 tip. So, now I'll make them at home for half the price and no one gets money. Losing my business won't be a drop in the bucket for you but I'm not the only one cutting back. Ask your servers, they're probably already feeling the shift. It's brewing into a perfect storm where eventually your employees won't be able to afford to work for you. It's such a shame too. I've never seen anyone in there not...
Read moreWe love Maddy's Diner! It is a Middletown institution! It's great for anyone from a small group to a single person, all are welcome. They have the friendly wait staff around. I go here regularly with a close friend of mine and we are never disappointed. I had the Western omelet. It was very good. I love the melty American cheese in the middle. Plus I get a serving of vegetables for breakfast. With this I had fresh fruit. I skipped the toast and home fries. Many times when I ask them not to bring me toast at restaurants, they do anyway out of habit. This is a huge challenge for me. I love toast with jelly with my breakfast. Them not bringing it helps me immensely. I am newly diabetic, and I don't need that temptation. Anyway, they always have the freshest fruit and it's always naturally sweet. When I have ordered it, there has always been cut up bananas, strawberries, and whole fresh blueberries. It looks great and is delicious. We go here regularly for numerous reasons. I can't imagine getting a bad meal here ever. Plus they have recently added what I would say is an ice cream and dessert bar. Not good for me, but...
Read moreI recently visited Maddy’s Diner and had a decent experience overall. The parking situation is a bit of a hassle, which made it a bit difficult to get in. The customer service was alright, but it could definitely be improved. It feels like the staff has been there forever, and unfortunately, they seem to be more welcoming to regulars or people they know rather than newcomers.
As for the food, the chicken and waffles were a bit underwhelming. It tasted more like a frozen chicken tender with a dusting of powdered sugar, which was a bit of a letdown. On the other hand, the steak and home fries were decent, though we did need to add a bit of salt and pepper to bring out the flavor. I was hoping for the home fries to be more on the crispy side, but they ended up a little soggy instead.
If you're looking for a casual meal this is your spot. Overall there’s definitely room for improvement in both service and...
