About 2 months ago my best man and I went for a small bachelor weekend up in the Catskills. We found ourselves needing a place to eat in a town I've never been. The options were limited, as they seem to be all around there, and we didn't want to just go to McDonalds (which you can get anywhere), and I mostly wanted something at least unique for the area. We ended up looking all over, checking out reviews of many local places, and found nothing really sounded all that good, let alone worth some additional driving.
However, Packin' Heat stood out to us because it had a fun name, and it had the advantage of being in the same town we were in at the moment.
Long story short, this place has no business being as good as it is, and it very well may be the best thing within 100 miles of the area. The staff was extremely warm & friendly, the food was simply great and the "Jake's Sauce" is awesome (I don't know if they sell it in bottles but I would absolutely recommend giving it a try).
While Packin' Heat is truly a hidden gem in an otherwise food wasteland (I'm probably being hyperbolic, but nothing else seemed worth trying that wasn't a chain restaurant), it is also an objectively solid restaurant with delicious food, well-made drinks, and a great staff, and I have no problem recommending it to anybody who might be within an...
Read moreWe decided to give Packin Heat a second chance. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. The food delivery time was impeccable. Let's get to the Meat of this second visit. We ordered strawberry habenaro bonless wings. I figured it was going to be spicy. No it wasn't, instead it was one of the greatest experiences my mouth has tasted in a long time. After the appetizer my daughter had ordered the shrimp mac and cheese, OMG it was amazing. Creamy and smokey deliciousness. My wife ordered the French Onion burger, which once again was simply wonderful. Against my best judgment I decided to order the brisket sandwich once again. Packin Heat did not fail to deliver this time. There in front of me sat this amazing, well designed, full of amazing and tender brisket sandwich. The Packin Heat sauce was dripping esence of probably the most amazing brisket sandwich I've ever eaten. It was a total mouthgasm!! Let's not forget the amazing Kim, our server. Not one thing wrong from always full beverage glasses, down to not even needing to ask for extra napkins. Simply put, if you want to go out and eat find somewhere else. If you want a tandelizing taste bud explosion, Packin Heat is the place to understand hardwork and craftsmanship for perfection. Pakin Heat is not just eating!!! It's an...
Read moreNot our first visit to this venue. At times it's been good. With that said today, 3/16/2024 we decided to have an early dinner tonight. We ordered the parmesan garlic wings. Please look at the phot attached to see what we received. My husband thought they sent out spareribs. When the owner came over to ask us how we were doing my husband explained we never saw this cut of chicken before being used as wings. Owner explained because of the high cost of chicken wings they came up with a plan to substitute thighs with part of the backbone. Picture attached. Dinner: My husband ordered a classis burger and when the waiter asked whether he wanted tomato, lettuce etc. he indicated just raw onion.
I ordered the smoked brisket sandwich and the waiter read off a list of sides to which I selected the garlic parmesan asparagus. This is what he came out with. Picture attached. Never came out prior to explain to me that they didn't have asparagus and just gave me a dried out bowl of peas.
Long story short they (the owners) never came out to apologize nor did we even see them upon exiting.
Without a doubt!!!! Very dissapointed!!!
I've had some great dishes here but they're not consistent. ...
