Five & Two Cafe — Restaurant in Town of Washington

My wife and I have been eating here once a month for the past 1.5 years. The black bean burgers are amazing. Everything up until this past Saturday was a 5/5 experience.

On Saturday, I pulled a huge piece of plastic out of their beef chili bowl. First off, they forgot my order and then second off, I found a huge melted piece of plastic on the last bite of my soup. What a nightmare because I almost swallowed the plastic piece thinking it was a thick onion. Good thing I didn't! This was quite a scary experience. I would've choked.

In addition, that piece of plastic was sitting in that soup all day melting away like a lounging lizard on a rock in Death Valley. After viewing the piece of plastic at the front register, the woman at the front said, "No one else got a piece of plastic in their soup today and we've sold a bunch throughout the day". OMG. What's really sad was the total apathetic "i don't give a shit" reaction, response and body language by the woman working the front of the cafe as we walked out..........."Sorry about that, hahaha."

I simply cannot put into words the love I have for this cafe. They hands down have the best coffee I have ever tasted and it is extremely affordable. Their food is also very good. I recommend this place to everyone I meet because it really is phenomenal. The staff is so nice and the atmosphere is lovely. I go here multiple times a week spending money that I don’t have just to taste the coffee again. Very consistent flavor and always tastes the exact same (unlike other places that your latte will taste good one day and bad the next). What a gem! We’re so happy we discovered this adorable cafe on one of our many trips between St Paul and Madison, and we’ll want to make this a must-do when we’re driving through! The cinnamon twist and blueberry muffin and chocolate caramels we devoured were excellent - fresh and flavorful - the coffee was also! The cafe itself is such a cute place, the service was wonderful, everything so clean and attractive!
