We have been coming to Bottoms Up for years, and it’s always been one of our favorites. My husband even held my 50th birthday party here. We came here last night with family and it did not meet our expectations at all. To start with, our drinks took a very long time to be served, and weren’t served all at the same time. Also, the bus person plopped a huge pitcher of ice water and glasses on the table without filling them. At a restaurant of this caliber, It’s customary to fill the guest’s water glasses. Now for the food, my husband ordered a rib eye medium rare. It came out well done. They remade his steak to the correct temp but he said it was tough and chewy. My niece ordered filet mignon, med rare. It was raw. Not rare. Raw. And veiny. They offered to redo it, but she declined due to losing her appetite. Two of us had chicken parmigiana, which was fair at best. The chicken cutlet was not crispy and it was too thick. The rest of the food was good, not great. The owner did come to our table, apologized and took the filet off the bill. I should also mention the service- our water pitcher was never refilled, the appetizer came without plates, and none of our entrees, desserts or coffee came out together. To me, this is all unacceptable, especially considering the prices. Normally, we’re happy to pay for good food, drinks and service. This experience was very disappointing and surprising considering we’ve never had a bad meal here before now. I’d also like to add that it would have gone a long way to offer to pick up the cost of our desserts or something. We will all think twice before coming back to Bottoms Up. I hope if we do, it’s back to the place we...
Read moreUnexpectedly excellent dining experience. I went in figuring this place for a run of the mill casual establishment. It is casual and friendly and the service is attentive and helpful. But the food is way more upscale than the word casual would have you expect. The blackened shrimp appetizer was just fantastic. The shrimp were tender and not overcooked and the sauce was delicious. The seared tuna appetizer was delicious as well, although cooked a bit more than I would have liked. The main courses were incredible. The shrimp scampi was flavorful with capers and sun dried tomatoes atop angel hair pasta. The lamb shank with gnocchi was tender and succulent and seasoned perfectly. The scallops carbonara might be one of the best things I ever tasted. The big, tender scallops were cooked perfectly. All the meals came out together and hot, a big plus. My only suggestion would be regarding the creme brulee. It was smooth and silky with no egg break, but it was flavored with lemon. If your creme brulee isn't traditional vanilla custard, you should note that in the menu. I might have opted off, although it was very good. The carrot cake was excellent as well. The prices were very reasonable considering the quality of the food. All in all, I highly recommend Bottoms Up for fine food in a...
Read moreMy parents took us to this place over the weekend and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly, and even joked around with my mother, who is QUITE a handful.
I ordered a Manhattan, which was straight up and yummy. A perfect way to start the weekend. Then I got the Seared Ahi Tuna with veggie soba noodles. It was excellent. Next I shared their salad special with my better half and was also impressed. It had walnuts, apples, dried cranberries, gorgonzola, and raspberry vinaigrette.
For dinner I had the Salmon which was smothered in a tomato and sausage bruschetta, and sat stop a yummy pile of sauteed spinach and vegetable. Dessert is something I usually pass on, but you don't come by Blueberry Cheesecake every day, and when I heard it came with vanilla ice cream, that got ordered without a second thought. Of course it was great as was the whole experience. Check the place out if you have an evening free. But be sure to make a reservation, because it's a pretty popular with the locals and a great...
