So many things to ❤ about a night out at Timmer's Resort on Big Cedar Lake! They check all the boxes for an overall amazing dining experience. From the moment you walk in the door you are greeted by a smiling face and a warm welcome from Catey Seitz and staff. ✅ Box One Checked (friendly front of house)
As you enter the dining room you get to enjoy the warmth of a wood burning fire on a cold night. Between you and me I would have enjoyed sitting by the fire with Anne a bit more than my friend Roric Griffith but he is a close second for sure 😉😆! It was great conversation with a guy, I am privileged enough to call a friend. He has some pretty exciting ideas, that I am looking forward to being a part of. ✅ Box Two (ambiance) & Three Checked (great company)
We had a chance to sit and look over the menu before John Levine appeared from the kitchen to introduce himself and make a few recommendations. The menu is very straight forward and I always love seeing a daily or weekly specials option addon. ✅ Box Four Checked (great menu choices - with specials)
For the sake of simplicity and to humor ourselves we both opted to allow the Chef to determine our course with a few simple directions on what Roric doesn't like and to our delight they were happy to indulge us! (YES I COPIED RORIC)
I had the Chef's Seasonal Salad, which was fresh and full of flavor. The pickled red onions and the goat cheese were perfectly complimented by the raspberry poppy seed vinaigrette dressing. The Seared Scallops were golden-brown and the inside was tender and creamy, just right! Plus they decided we needed another half of a dinner so they brought us the Chef Special Scallop Primavera. Excellent! I agree with Roric, I would come back and order (either of) these dishes AGAIN! ✅ Box Five Checked (great food)
Then dessert! How could we even possibly consume anymore... Yeah right we are talking about #desserts and I always have room for that! We allowed them to choose for us and apparently we still looked hungry, so they brought out 4 desserts to share, LOL! My eyes were bigger than my stomach. I thought for sure the cheesecake would be the winner for me but the bread pudding was for sure the star dessert for me. ✅ Box Six Checked (YUMMY - DESSERTS) We also tried the Luxardo Cherry Creme Brulee and the Schaum Torte.
My suggestion would be go check them out, soon! It is going to be a great experience all the way around. I have every intention of returning again with Anne for a dinner date in the...
Read moreSo hard to write this review, as this place has so much potential. Seated 45 minutes after our reservation. It was a Tuesday night, so not busy but not slow either. The hostesses tried her best however another table was still enjoying their night and the hostess indicated once they left we would be seated. We had cocktails and sat outside while we waited. We ordered immediately apon being seated. After another 45 minutes we asked our waitress if she knew when we could expect our food. She said they were backed up and she was not sure. We asked again after another 30 minutes past and she said that we had 2 more table in front of us. The room was 50% full, so it was hard to understand the large delay. We asked if we could speak to a manager and assured her she was not doing any wrong but this was too long to wait. The manager come and apologized but said she didnt know when our food would be up and the kitchen staff just said they couldn't go any faster. 30 more minutes passed and our food came out. 2 sandwiches, 1 scallop dish, 1 steak dish, and 1 chicken dish. The steak was order medium rare and come out well done. Almost seemed microwaved to reheat it. The baked potatoe was hard and not cooked enough to mash or eat, I tried. The beans were burned, not charred, burnt and so dried out they were shriveled up. The whole meal was not edible and we did not wish to ask for something else due to them already being overwhelmed. I asked if she could just take it off, which she agreed. They offered did give us a round of drinks, which some of us didn't wish for more drinks because we were in need of food. We spoke with the manager again at the end of the meal, and she offered us dessert. We decided to pass on it after waiting an additional 15 mins and no one took our order. My husband and mother spoke with the manager to share our feedback. The restaurant took care of our bill and we still tipped the waitress. We spent 50ish dollars on pre dinner drinks and about 50ish in a tip. Then we drove an hour home, disappointed in our experience but thankful for the waitress, hostesses, and manager who tried to salvage the experience. We were there to celebrate 2 birthdays and an...
Read moreEnded up with a group of 4 visiting Timmer's based on a family member's request. We were not disappointed. We started out with the Muscles. Fresh and well cooked. If you have ever had a bad muscle, you'd know it. These were far from bad. Delicate texture and good sauce. Good liquor selection. They were a little short on the Sazerac though; probably just an error in the mix. But, they have Freakshow wine. If you are in the mood for a deep red, well-balanced wine, do not pass a glass of this up. Might even be better just ordering the bottle and taking an Uber home or letting someone else drive... so worth it! Our main courses fed the gamut of tastes; Ribs, Duck (on special), Prime Rib and Filet Mignon. I'm starting here and I had the ribs. I am being biased because everyone at the table said I had the best dish out of everyone's order!! Yay for me and they were right!! For those of you from Chicago and can appreciate a good rib with a sauce that tingles in the side of your cheek, get these ribs! Wow... was I impressed with the taste. Fall off the bone, get your fingers sloppy, ask for extra wipes goodness!!! The duck was well cooked and had a good taste to it. We believe they should have limited the orange glaze, just a bit too much. The prime rib was a good cut of meat. The person who ordered this had no complaints. Her slice was cut to order and tasted really good. My gf had the filet. She is a rare - keep it moving - meat kinda girl. Timmer's nailed it. A firm cut of filet perfectly cooked and cut like a hot knife in water. Yes, I said water... that was how tender that meat was. All in all, put Timmer's on your reservation list. It is surrounded by vacation and weekend rentals. My advice is to reserve a table if it's more than two. Because of their location and beautiful outdoor seating area, if you visit here during the spring and fall months, it's going to be busy during the popular hours. Thank You Timmer's for a great experience! Looking forward to visiting you again my next time up...
