I have visited this restaurant on a few occasions thinking that maybe the first time was just a fluke and if I tried another menu item I might have a better experience. The first time I visited was a Saturday in February. The decor is amazing and so was my server. I can not recall her name but she was a very lovely blonde girl. The bar menu had plenty enough to chose from and we enjoyed the choice of local wines. We gave the Boondocks Sampler a try to start and the only portion we enjoyed were the mozzarella triangles, even better without the marinara. Everything on the dish seemed to be processed, aside from the triangles and the quesadilla, which wasn't all too appetizing either. We then decided to order our entrees. Since it was their "Prime Rib" night, my wife and I chose to give it a try. I ordered the Queen Cut medium rare with mashed potatoes and gravy and my wife had the petite cut medium with the rice pilaf. We also decided to have a salad before our meals. We received our salads with dinner rolls and butter. The butter was really good with a maple flavor. Our salads, although not bad, were something we would have expected to get a fast food restaurant such as McDonald's or Wendy's. We then got our entrees about 22 minutes later. My cut of rib was extremely fatty and was cooked more to the medium well side as was my wife's. The Aujus was very good and so were the mashed potatoes alone. The "beef" gravy resembled something you'd get out of a jar. My wife's rice was completely dried out and she needed to add 4 or 5 packets of butter just to enjoy it. Our vegetables were completely soggy and mushy as well. We ate what we could stand to eat and decided to give their dessert menu a look over. We ordered the Peanut Butter Pie. While it was tasty, it was just a little too rich and had the taste of a completely pre-processed product that you could find in the freezer section of Walmart. All in all we weren't very satisfied with that experience nor the bill we received at the end. The quality of the food we ingested was definitely not worth the price. The next visit I had made was just last month with a few co-workers on our way to a conference. I went with some boneless wings to start with the garlic parmesan sauce. The sauce was really good but didn't expect the wings to be as small as they were for the price. I ordered the ranch burger medium rare with sweet potato fries as a side. Matter of fact our entire party had burgers. We got our food and began eating. The bacon on my burger tasted as if it had been cooked in a deep fryer and had no bacon flavor at all. My medium rare order turned out to be cooked far from what it was ordered. There was no red in my burger what so ever and it was very bland. It needed a little something, like salt and pepper. Out of the four of us, the only burger that was cooked remotely close was the one that was ordered well done. The sweet potato sauce was very delicious though. All in all this was the last experience I will chose to have at this restaurant. The food was mostly eaten as we didn't want to wait even longer than we already had to for a few burgers. If you are looking for a good meal where the prices match then this definitely is not the place. After the last experience my partners and I agreed that there should be a drive-thru window on the side of the building for the quality of food...
Read moreOh boy, what a cool place! For starters, the ambiance is fantastic for a date night, with a waterfall and stream running through the restaurant. It's peaceful and relaxing. The staff were some of the most polite young people I've encountered in a long time. Our server Amelia was fantastic. I didn't have to ask for anything. She did seem to run away when we asked what the sauce for the sweet potato fries was, apparently its a heavily guarded secret recipe, Lol. The food was good, we started with a loaded fries app and the cheese sauce was on a different level, if that was cheese whiz thrn they have discovered a magical way of heating it! The fries were absolutely fresh and crispy until the last bite. My wife ordered a tangled Philly cheesesteak with sweet potato fries. The cheesesteak was smothered in Swiss with onions and peppers, but it also had this bourbon bbq sauce that had all the right amounts of sweet and savory. The sweet potato fries were as fresh and crispy as the app fries. The sauce, though, is a toss-up of either marshmallow or root beer or something! I can not place it, and the waitress was not willing to share that info saying it was homemade. I had the grilled chicken breast with mushrooms and provolone, I believe. It came with the veggie of the day and one other side. I chose the loaded mashed potatoes. The chicken was very flavorful, a tad dry but not enough to ruin my meal by any means. The green beans were delicious and were seasoned with minced garlic. Usually, restaurants just serve boring steamed veggies, but the Boondocks obviously know the importance of flavoring veggies. The loaded mashed potatoes were fantastic. They used the same magical cheese sauce that was on the fries. The bacon was delicious and crispy. Overall, my wife and I loved this place! Even though it's over an hour away, we plan on going back and making this place our special occasion restaurant. We also plan on booking a weekend at the hotel sometime as well. Oh! I forgot to mention they have a bar and arcade as well. They even have live music. Great staff, great food, and just a...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to try something new a couple weeks ago and checked out the boondocks restraunt. We were not very impressed. Although the decor was beautiful i felt we were paying for just that. I started with a chicken spinach salad and he ordered a chefs salad that was presented to us with rolls and a maple flavored butter. The salads were poor and discolored with much of the spinach slimy or ripped in half and the ham for his chefs salad had certainly gone bad. We wound up just snacking on the rolls until our order came which were pretty good with the maple butter. For our entre we had ordered the loaded nachos to share with my order of a fried chicken dinner with mashed potatos and his for a lobster mac n' cheese. we had waited around 30 minutes. The nachos were pretty good but not for the price. The chicken was very dry and the mac n cheese was tasty but more of a home made mac n cheese without the lobster since he couldnt taste it. The waitress was friendly and attentive but the overall dining experience was topped off with a loud disagreement from a male employee to another that disrupted our meal as well as the rest in the diningroom from what we could see. We would put it as a lowclass bar hidden behind nice decor and unreasonable prices. I dont think well be...
