Hoover's Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Wheatfield

Ordered a big bad bob milkshake and ice cream. Received the ice cream right away, but waited at least 30 minutes for a milkshake. A gentleman, and his two daughters came in after I ordered, got their ice cream and milkshake. After watching the ice cream girls stand around plus walk back and forth, I went up to the register on the side of the line to see if my milkshake was being made. There wasn't anything on the milkshake makers, so I asked where my milkshake was. Turns out they forgot and it wasn't made. After receiving the milkshake, and taking it to my mother to drink, she said it tasted like pure chocolate as if they made it with chocolate ice cream and syrup. I was told a couple weeks prior, that they always make it with vanilla ice cream. If there isn't adult supervision, or ownership around, then kids will do what they want. I called to speak to the owner and was told they're not in on the weekends. I called yesterday, March 11, left a message with a woman, and never received a call from the owner after being told she (the owner, Judy) wouldn't get back to me until later. I will take my business elsewhere. I gave the benefit of doubt, and over 24 hours has gone by without hearing back...

Local gem! Hoovers started making their ice cream using the surplus cream from their dairy production (milk products). They’ve been wildly successful. Large selection of their crafted flavors. Despite the Perry’s signage, they no longer sell Perry’s but focus on their own delicious, rich ice cream.

I have their beef on weck (iconic western New York roast beef sandwich) which was a pretty good (missing the au jus) mountain of thinly sliced beef round. The Kimmel weck roll was too fluffy, really need an old school Kaiser roll for the base roll, not this current preference for a lighter crusty Italian style roll, however the roll was topped with a respectable amount of salt & caraway.

Had a delicious berry cheesecake cone with the sandwich- very creamy, great flavor, run of the mill cake cone.

Went back later for the special eclair sundae - 3 mini eclairs topped with generous 2 scoops of ice cream and hot fudge with the requisite whipped cream and cherry on top. That was lunch by itself and worth...

Their fishfries are delicious. The beer battered one is nice and crispy and big enough to split with someone, especially with the fries, macaroni salad, bread, coleslaw, and ice cream. It's a great deal. Downside, they advertise calling ahead to place your order for a certain pickup time, but I don't think it does anything. There was a line of people waiting for orders and we had to wait 20 minutes past our pickup time for our name to be called. I don't think they started cooking the meal until you arrived. There were no parking spots but several empty tables inside. Most people seemed to be waiting for fish.

UPDATE: tried to give them another chance not on a Friday night. Still over half an hour to get a scoop of ice cream. Not a place for children or elderly that have to stand in line that long, and then the second line to wait for picking it up. Even just getting ice cream doesn't mean you get served out of order. They waited to fill each meal before our cone...
