Great small town place! The name says it all - Local Folks Restaurant & Pub lol. It really was filled with mostly local folks. Service was local friendly, you know, the "what can I get you, hon?" kind. Love it!
We went on a Friday with a group of friends. Hubby got the Friday Night Fish Fry with fries. The fish is all you can eat, and you can get both beer battered or baked cod. They were not stingy with the portions! And it didn't take 30 minutes in between to get more, so all the guys on the table (they all got the fish lol) were super happy. Hubby says it wasn't out of the world delicious, but pretty good, as were the fries. I mean, he had like 3 portions of the fish.
I got the strip steak prepared with garlic butter and salad and mashed potatoes. Hubby had the mashed potatoes, which were good. Salad was very fresh, with a side of dressing as I had asked. Nothing spectacular, but I hate it when you see wilted veggies on a salad and this one was crispy fresh.
The steak was market priced, but reasonable, under $15. I'm not sure what cut of meat they used, but it wasn't the most tender or fatty. I should have asked before asking for a medium well - had I known, I would have gone medium rare. Garlic butter was delicious.
A friend had the same steak with sautéed mushrooms, and it looked juicier than mine. But probably tasted about the same haha.
Overall, a nice casual place to hang out with family and friends. Great vibes and...
Read moreNice place, simple and popular. We headed to this place on a Sunday morning for breakfast on the way to our visit to lake Geneva. The location is quite interesting - several eateries on either side of a short narrow roads amidst vast farm lands all around. The road and surroundings looked desolate except for the many cars parked around Local Folks. And as we entered we were quite surprised as we could see about 60 odd people enjoying their break fast and having pleasant chit chats - all inside a rectangular hall of 60ft x 20ft, divided into two halves the first of which is also housing the elongated bar counter. Though it was almost full we did get our table in less than 3-4 minutes. The place has a rustic look and an informal touch in its decor - reflected well in the casual mood of the visitors there - the right kind of place where I too do feel at home. We ordered coffee and the local folks special breakfast. They served coffee for us immediately and they came frequently for re-fills. The food was served a bit late - reasonably so due to the sunday load of crowd. But the waitress was courteous enough to apologize for the little delay. I utilized the time to draft this narrative and finally came the breakfast. The food was delicious too and the best part is - it's so easy on the pocket. Finally a splendid experience. Would recommend others and we ourselves would...
Read moreI had never been here but heard good things about the place. Finally got to try it a couple weeks ago. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. The food was fantastic! I had a couple small concerns with the service, but as I said it was my first time here so I don't know what their normal is. The waitress was very attentive to start and quite friendly. After the food was delivered, she didn't stop by much. She did check once but later would have been nice for additional napkins or another drink but she didn't come around. Not sure if she was letting us enjoy our food or wasn't paying attention to us. The other concern I had is becoming more common everywhere BUT it would have been nice to be warned that there was an extra fee for using a credit card. It wasn't a ridiculous amount but it would have been nice to be told when I handed over my credit card because I could have used cash instead. Overall, a good experience and the menu has more items that sound pretty good! Might need to...
