.Very clean restaurant and people working there are very nice. I ate there twice. The only thing I didn't care for was the vegetable soup. The chicken dumpling soup was good tho. I would like to offer up some soup recipes. Feel free to use them. (Clam Chowder) Ingredients: Four stalks of celery, rinsed and diced One half of a medium yellow onion, rinsed and diced, or 1 cup 12 medium potatoes rinsed and diced into 1/2 inch pieces, waxy potatoes are best, if you do not want to peel fresh potatoes you can use a number 10 can of diced potatoes just rinse and drain them 2 cups Heavy whipping cream 2 sticks real butter 1 cup all purpose flour Salt to taste about 2-4 tsp Pepper to taste about 1 tsp 1 tsp Dried parsley 1 tsp Broth from canned clams 6 cups water Two to four bay leaves placed inside of a tea ball or cheese cloth Three 10 oz cans of baby clams In a deep skillet or large pot Saute onions and celery in two tablespoons of oil For about 5 minutes then add potatoes Saute for about 5 minutes don't let the potatoes burn or brown, just warm them Add 6 of cups of water Add juice from strained clams Add 2 teaspoon of salt, one teaspoon of pepper, one teaspoon of dry parsley Put 4 bay leaves in a tea ball or cheese cloth and submerge the tea ball or cheese cloth Bring to a boil and cover Reduce heat to medium low Cook until potatoes celery and onion are tender but the potatoes still need to be a bit firm you don't want to cook them down too much In a separate large pot Put two sticks of butter and melt them Gradually add one cup of all purpose flour stirring constantly Remove from heat Pour potato/celery/onion/water mixture into butter/flour mixture and stir Add 2 teaspoons of salt Add two cups of heavy whipping cream Bring to a boil Add clams Bring to a boil for about 5 minutes until clams are thoroughly heated Serve with saltine crackers or oyster crackers If you will not be serving all this soup immediately, it is best to keep clams separate from prepared chowder mixture When it's time to serve someone just put about two cups chowder in a pot and heat and then add about 2-3 tbsp clams and heat until the clams are thoroughly cooked That way the clams don't get tough from constant heat Keep the clams in a container on ice in the refrigerator to keep them fresher longer (Easy Vegetarian vegetable soup) One 12oz bag of frozen peas and carrots 4 celery stalks chopped 1/8 inch thick Two 48 oz cans of petite diced tomatoes 2 chopped yellow onions 1 14 oz can of corn 10 lb of potatoes peeled and chopped into large 2-in chunks Two 2 lb cartons of vegetable broth 1 stick of butter Add enough water to cover if necessary Boil until potatoes are fork tender Add salt and pepper to taste Serve with unsweetened cornbread Cornbread recipe Preheat oven to 425 Fahrenheit Liberally grease an iron skillet or baking pan 9-in diameter Preheat the pan for about 5 minutes Mix one and 1/4 cup of whole milk, 1/4 cup of vegetable oil or Canola, one large egg, then slowly start in two cups of buttermilk cornmeal mix Pour in to preheated pan Bake for 8 minutes check every 2 minutes after that Bake until golden brown and firm in the center You can put a toothpick in the center and if it comes out clean it's done Slice into eight sections Serve with butter (Great depression potato soup recipeđ) Peel 10 lb of potatoes Chop them into 2-in pieces Peel 2 sweet yellow onions Slice them into rings and break them apart Put them in a 12 quart stew pot Cover them with water plus 2 inches of water above potatoes and onions Boil until tender Add one stick of real butter Add one cup of heavy whipping cream Salt and pepper to taste If you're going to be offering bacon be really careful with the salt I suggest serving toppings on the side If you want to thicken the soup do not add flour or cornstarch Instead just remove a few potatoes and mash them and add them back to the pot Repeat the process until its thick as you want it You can put toppings on the side such as green onions, bacon, shredded cheese, hard boiled eggs Serve with...
Read moreStopped by this little gem while being parked across the street at the Loves. The restaurant does have truck parking in the back so thatâs nice. I chose to park at the truck stop and walk over to the restaurant just so we didnât have to cross the street in the dark with our shower stuff. My dad and I ordered cheese curds, the cod dinner and the shrimp basket. Everything was amazing from the food, to the staff! I had a potato pancake in a way I had never had before and it was delicious! Our appetizer came out quickly and before we were even done with it our soup and salad came out. Not too long after that our entrees were at the table. Nothing stayed on the table long once it was empty. The wait staff was wicked attentive. Thats always nice to see. Our dinners came with a scoop of ice cream. What a nice treat. Iâm not sure if it was a manager or the owner who came by to check on things inbetween the wait staff coming by, but he was nice as well. We would definitely recommend this place and will be making a point to stop by again when in this area. Thanks for some great food and great service! Oh and itâs also wicked reasonably priced!
update as of this morning (the following morning) Still waiting on my next load so we went over for breakfast. Still leaving my 5 star review because over all this place is wicked good. However, I was slightly disappointed this morning in my poached eggs. They were hard through and through. Poached eggs are supposed to be at the very least slightly runny inside, if not totally runny inside. When theyâre over poached it just makes them tough and thatâs what I had this morning. But their homemade corned beef is pretty damn good and everything else tasted good. The coffee there isnât bad either. The service wasnât as good as yesterday was, but I fell as though they werenât prepared for a holiday weekend as they were busy and I feel just didnât have the staff for it. Somewhat feel bad as I tip per my service. I would still come back here if in the area because overall it was a great place with great food. I just wonât order the...
Read moreTastes like mom made it! Once again, I came in from working to try a new restaurant. Unfortunately, I have not been to Wisconsin but a handful of times, but I do love it. It is a gorgeous state with great people. This restaurant epitomizes their friendly, hospitable, and welcoming demeanor. The server got my order correctly and was very helpful. She did not treat me like I was a bother, but instead, like I was a good family friend coming over for dinner. I know it's weird, but I have been noticing lately that many restaurants have been getting rid of many of my favorite home-cooked type comfort foods. Especially, of all things, noodle dishes! âď¸âđ¤ââď¸Not so at the Parkside Restaurant. I had a huge bowl of chicken fettuccine with mushrooms, which I had added. I also had a bowl of delicious ham and asparagus soup đ Places do not make enough soup or varieties of it much anymore. Both items were outstanding. I was very hungry when I came in and went out so full. Also, truckers, there are about 10 spots for us to park in back. There's also a Love's close by that you could park in if the restaurant's lot is full. So if you should find yourself journeying through wonderful Wisconsin, make time to stop by and visit your old family friend, Parkside...
