Chencha y Chole — Restaurant in Trenton

We arrived at the restaurant and everything seemed fine. We were greeted with friendliness. Our drinks and chips and salsa came out quickly. Our order was taken promptly as well. Soon after a couple of women came in and took a seat. Quickly after they stood up and whispered among themselves that there was a cockroach in the napkins. I asked them what they were seeing and they confirmed to me that there was a cockroach on the table. The waitress was called and told about the cockroach. Even though it was right in her face (we could see it from our table) the waitress walked away and got the manager. The manager didn't come until several minutes later. During the wait, the cockroach stood tall on the napkin until one of the ladies (customer) tried to kill it, and it proceeded to scurry across the table onto the floor. The manager finally came out and proceeded to tell the customers that the restaurant never had cockroaches before and that her prank was not amusing. The manager's attitude about the situation was horrible. The 2 ladies left and I don't blame them. They never cleaned the table after and allowed other customers coming in to sit at the dirty table.

Side note we ordered pork and vegetarian quesadillas and a chicken soup. The chicken from the soup was disgusting. I didn't even touch it.

I will never eat from here again or recommend this...

I went to eat there one day with the family and I ordered wings with rice and beans from the kids menu for my son and the server apparently came back and said that the guy who was cooking with a hat said it only came with one side and the other had to be charged as a side so I showed both of them that the menu said it came with the two sides and the guy with the hat became aggressive and said " I don't care what the menu says" it's what I say, so I said to him "you are absolutely no one to speak to me like that" and I said that they had to update the menu so there would not be any miss communication again. After him telling me this I said to him that last time there was an incident with him too about something similar and that's why I stopped going to eat there because of him he answers "well you should of never had came back" I was really mad at the whole situation there was no manager to speak too and the whole staff just stood there staring at me, so ended up telling my family to let's leave and we only paid for drinks. Terrible experience here I do not...

I'm getting desperate trying to find an authentic mexican place. Chencha y chole is as close as it gets, but the taste wasn't all there. I ordered chilaquilles, which is a typical mexican dish consisting of fried tortillas (chips) tossed in eggs and red sauce. Upon receiving my plate- I immediately took notice of the super soggy chilaquilles. I don't even think they where fried to begin with. It was just mush. The peice of steak that came with it wasn't seasoned and just tasted gross. My husband didn't have any better luck. The tacos where okay but his torta was weird. It had huge chunks of fresh pinapple that overshadowed the rest of the flavor. 'Torta cubana' is a cuban sandwich- not mexican. Yeah not going...
